  1. California Court System In Action on Diebold Whistle-Blower Charged With Felony Access · · Score: 1

Look, this is the California court system in action - that's all.

Everyone who has lived there knows it is fucked up. That is how some dude who rapes and cuts off the arms of a 15 year old goes free after doing some time and there are riots there every ten years or so. You are fully familiar with cases concerning OJ Simpson and Michael Jackson aren't you, dear reader?

California is simply a mess. I am so glad I moved out of there.

  2. Yes, a whole new category of criminal on 'Games as Porn' Bill Passes Utah House · · Score: 5, Insightful

The dreaded "gamer." Three kids go on a shooting spree and so the 1,000,000+ who play are all lining up at gun stores.

This is a law brought to you by the people who want intelligent design taught in school.

It also an example of why people are disgusted with legislators around the country.

  3. Gotta have the firewire on MacBook is Speedy, but no FireWire 800, Modem Ports · · Score: 0, Flamebait

I got a bunch of firewire 800 disk drives. If they want me to buy another Apple, they are gonna have to put the FW800 back in.

Otherwise I will be writing a "Why I gave up on Apple" article in my blog. :(

  4. Get off your a** and vote on Games Are Porn in Utah · · Score: 2, Insightful

I vote. I hung out and watched who went to the local poll I voted at. 30+ voters. A lot of white haired voters.

If you want the politicians to behave themselves, then you need to use that stick called voting to put them in their place.

I have five friends who moan and complain and did they vote? Nope. They went on about this "I didn't vote as a jab at the system."

Well guess what - if you don't vote that means the morons have fewer people to attract to gain power over YOU. THEY DON'T WANT YOU TO VOTE.

Go vote for a green or a third party if you don't like someone - at least they will recognize that they have people actively working against them. It is a lot harder for someone to say they have a mandate with 53% of the vote than someone with 70% of the vote could say.

  5. OS X = UNIX on Conducting a Unix Desktop Usability Study? · · Score: 1

It is not just KDE vs Gnome! In my opinion, for now OS X is the Linux Desktop killer. When my Dell gave up it's ghost and it came time for me to buy a new laptop - I looked at Linux vs OS X and came to the opinion OS X was the way to go. (I mean heck - it even has vi! Might as well through in another religious war here.) I can compile damn near anything on OS X that can be compiled on Linux (or gee hum BSD!)

  6. You have been warned on A Closer Look at Google Adwords · · Score: 1

Well, here is my story slightly on topic.

I have a web site that I was hoping to help pay bandwidth on through Google Adwords.

It was all working quite nicely for a few months until time came around for Google to pay the bill (they won't pay out until at least $100 is due you.)

Then out of no where - they decided *I* was putting in unwarranted clicks or some BS like that and closed my account and zapped my check.

Let see, taking in money to put your message in Ad Words, having other people display those ads for months on end on their sites, and then not bothering to pay people who display it on their sites... I think I have discovered Google's road to profit.

    Yes. I am bitter.

  8. Re:Why MySQL and not PostgreSQL? on Sun Announces Support for PostgreSQL · · Score: 1

Someone needs to do more research. I have found PostgreSQL to be just as easy to start up as MySQL. There are PHP and GUI administration tools available also.

  9. Frequency Analysis on Darknets Coming Soon? · · Score: 1

Of course most of us know this but some of us don't...

We should note this can be attacked by frequency analysis: Look for the most common letters used in the language, such as AEIOU and substitute those - then the most common components such as sh, th, ch, etc. and substitute those. Then subtitute letters for their frequency of appearing in words with their frequency of appearing in the message. Then do the spell checking thing.
