Thank you for the obligatory StarCraft quote! Gave me a good chuckle this morning.
Whenever I would play some Brood War and the medic said that, at LAN parties I would respond "The nature of my medical emergency is lack of blowjob." Ahhh, I miss those days.
While your opinion with regards to humiliation is admirable, your knowledge of this specific history is nonexistent. After being given unconditional surrender, we went into Japan and helped them in every way possible. We spent billions of dollars helping them rebuild, created a newer and more efficient infrastructure and shared most of our technology with them. We did not humiliate them--we treated them like equals. To quote wikipedia, "MacArthur and his GHQ staff helped a devastated Japan rebuild itself, institute a democratic government, and chart a course that made Japan one of the world's leading industrial powers." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Occupied_Japan/
MacArthur supervised the occupation of Japan, and made sure that the Japanese food network was the first thing reconstructed; he even forbid the US forces from eating any of the scarce Japanese food. Democracy flourished, and MacArthur and emperor Hirohito became friends.
Please do not accuse the United States of attempting to humiliate Japan, because there is simply no credibility to that statement.
What is it about humanity that we feel the need to cram more and more and more stuff into the same space?
You mean basic natural instincts, that ALL animals have? Growth is a biproduct of reproduction, and reproduction is performed by, you know, everything.
Yeah, this new skin would be great for someone in a situation like yours. Imagine being able to use this rather than taking skin off your ass or from other donors.
I work for Ferguson Enterprises in Newport News, VA, and here in the IS Department we built our own servers from scratch. Why? Because it's cheaper and we had the flexibility to get exactly what we wanted.
I agree with you that most large businesses rarely home-build their computers, but there are several relevant examples.
Your arguments do not negate the fact that they have no presence in that market range. The article is specifically talking about which is cheaper, and making excuses for Apple as to why they are more expensive only proves the other side's point.
Most people want a cheap computer. If you talk to the average family in the United States you will find that few are winning to pay more than $1000 for a laptop these days. Apple has been very successful and makes a very quality product, but it simply is not the cheapest.
"...the first spacecraft to orbit a main-belt asteroid and the first to ever orbit two targets after leaving Earth..."
I think it's pretty obvious that they're not including the earth as an object that has been orbitted. Thousands of man-made objects have already orbited the earth, so I think it's pretty reasonable to disclude that in their boasting.
Don't nit-pick them for not specifically saying "the first spacecraft to orbit two targets after leaving earth, the earth not included.;-)
Well yes, but the article says that it's the first time a single craft has orbited two targets, the earth not included. And most would agree that the part of the LVM that left the moon was a seperate craft, since it had different engines than the one that landed on the moon.
One thing that surprised me was the fact that it will be the first spacecraft to orbit two seperate targets after launch. For some reason I did not think that this was a difficult thing to do, though now that it has been brought to my attention I can understand why.
I beg to differ--vultures are the most useless of all Terran units. Goliaths in Brood War with the missile range upgrade are the best anti-air ground units in the game.
The money Blizzard made from Starcraft over the years FAR outweighs the money they pay to keep Battle.Net up every day. Plus like others have said, making a new MMO would only compete with WoW, which would hurt Blizzard more than it helps. Don't be so quick to jump on the MMORPG bandwagon by throwing all other genres out the window.
So you're saying you know more than a professor in the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine at the University of Michigan? No offense, but I think I'll take his word for it rather than yours.
Wow, slashdotters are getting more arrogant every day.
Well then it's a good thing nobody pays any attention to the outdated Jewish dietary laws anymore, including most Jews!
Try bacon. It's delicious.

Comparing asteroids to His Great Noodliness is just silly. That's the great thing about conspiracy theorists: their logic only makes sense to them.
I was wondering how long it would take for the conspiracy theorists to start jumping up and down and putting on their tin foil hats.

I was debating buying the iPhone and not getting a service--using it as a PDA only. There goes that hope. Thanks, Apple.
Though I suppose they never have been one to give you what you want.
Yeah, this new skin would be great for someone in a situation like yours. Imagine being able to use this rather than taking skin off your ass or from other donors.
Imagine how this could be applied to burn victims.
Or, on a more humerous note, Michael Jackson. Though I suppose there's no cure for wierdness.
Unfortunately slashdot has been going down this road... might as well be the Apple fanboy forums.
And to think this used to be a (somewhat) unbiased place.

You know someone knows what they're talking about when they have to say "I know what I'm talking about".
Also, yelling "I'm important!" into your cellphone doesn't work either.
Your arguments do not negate the fact that they have no presence in that market range. The article is specifically talking about which is cheaper, and making excuses for Apple as to why they are more expensive only proves the other side's point.

Apple still only commanded 4.8% market share in 2006. Are you still so sure that cheap macs would take away from the mid-range models? http://www.macworld.com/news/2006/07/20/marketsha
I just spit my morning coffee out from laughing. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks mac users are elitists.

The article says ORBITED, not visited.
Giotto came within 500 miles of Halley but never actually orbited.

The article says "not including the earth".
I assumed people would RTFA first but I guess slashdotters would rather quickly point out what they think is an error.

Here's a good video of it leaving the moon: http://youtube.com/watch?v=3fOSTfGXVN4

And I suppose you think Luxembourg is a world superpower?
I think the word "big" above is rather generous.

Wow, slashdotters are getting more arrogant every day.
That's why it's called "harrassment" and not "rape". Calling it rape is an outrage.
Slashdot needs a "Funniest Post of the Week" award. This one, hands-down, wins.
