The problem with boycotting is you have to get a vast majority of consumers to go along with it and most people just don't care enough to go through with it. I do, you do and most of/. prolly does but talk to Joe Plumber or Nacho Roofer about DRM and they'll think you're talking about some sort of VD...nevermind the teenagers (RIAA's ever-so-loyal fanbase) who would look at you like you're stupid and continue to buy anyways.
The issues with Linux have not changed in the past 10 years. It's disappointing that no progress has been made.
Perhaps this is because what you believe to be "issues" are not believed to be by the people doing the work?

for most people it's not as simple as putting the disk in and running the installer. You'll end up with devices that don't work and that Joe Average can't troubleshoot.
And when Joe Average has problems with Windows he's equally stuck.
And Joe Average can take it down to $BigBoxComputerStore and get it fixed without having to worry about if they support his OS
it's still not easy enough for the general public.
And the people working on the various Linux distributions generally aren't targeting the general public. Faced with the marketing machine that is Apple and the monopoly that is Microsoft, what value is there?

I think what you really mean is "Most of the problems with guns come from the naive gun-control zealots like yourself, who think the solution to a violent, aggressive person is to use bow, cower and give in to the criminal who's trying to mug/rob/rape/etc you/your wife/your kid/etc at gun point because gun control only controls the guns of law-abiding citizens."
