Yeah, why the fuck would I want to use a feature on a device that I paid quite a lot of money for? In fact, why are we using our iPhones as anything other than a fucking phone?!
(Note: For the slow amongst you, this post is laden with sarcasm).
In a nutshell, Sony did really well with their security but managed to fuck up the one thing that everyone else (Apple, Microsoft, Nintendo, etc.) got right.
Considering there are torrents out there several hundred gigabytes in size, I'd say that a torrent is definitely feasible. If they're worried about leaking too much too quickly, they should encrypt it with a 2048 character encryption key so nobody can access it until they say so (or better yet, have a few torrents encrypted separately). Then if they get pulled, it wouldn't take much to get a pastebin put up somewhere with the decryption key(s).
I think he's trying to say that most of the cables have not been released PUBLICALLY. The ones on the site are just the ones that have been released, there's quite a few more to come.
Technically, that's what the "jailbreak" actually does, but the retail firmware is different to the debug firmware. This is why you can "enable" a bunch of debug options in the VSH but they still don't work.
If the video is legitimate, the more likely scenario is that they've found a way to install the 3.5 debug firmware itself, rather than "jailbreak" anything. But if this was the case, the dongle probably wouldn't be needed (unless you need to "jailbreak" the retail PS3 to make it accept the debug firmware on boot).
I know someone was able to install debug firmware 2.3 onto his PS3, but I believe this was actually possible on retail PS3's that hadn't been upgraded past 2.3 anyway, then Sony started encrypting the debug firmware with a different key.
This is largely unconfirmed and most likely fake - and I'll tell you why.
Check out the very end of the video, the "game" exits and a message is displayed in the top right corner. See that message? Retail consoles don't display that, but Debug/TEST consoles do. Any Debug unit can be upgraded to debug Firmware 3.50 and play all the homebrew out there.
He has invited the various governments to give file numbers that could potentially put people at risk and they've flat out refused. So far, I haven't seen a single part of the leak that puts anyone in danger. It names names, but they are generally all high up government types, not anyone on the front lines or whatever.
"program" the bacteria to generate rainbow tables, then as they reproduce, the size of the tables will expand, meaning you get more useful data over time. Eventually, you'll be able to get a 200 char password from its MD5, even if it's made of random characters and numbers, as well as upper and lower case letters!*
*Note: the above post has a deliberately narrow view as to how Bioencryption, rainbow tables, password cracking, science, etc. works
My wife and I have discussed this at length and we've come to the conclusion that if my Son is savvy enough to get past all the parental restrictions that we'll put in place, then he's old enough to look at porn. And fair play to him.
This is really nothing new, most places that have any kind of moderation will instantly assume that anything that looks even remotely like a swastica is bad or intended to cause offense. A few years ago, I had made a map for C&C: Red Alert 2. Part of the map design, by coincidence, had an area that looked a tad like a swastica on the minimap (it was basically an "X" shape with a few lines coming off of it) in one small corner. I'd had a screenshot of it on photobucket and that was removed because it was potentially offensive.
...but isn't this the way things are heading, anyway? And have been for sone time.
How many transactions have you done online this year so far? Our even this month? How about all those card payments you make? Everything from your shopping to your lunch can be paid by card and the rise of NFC being built into every phone will only make this more popular. Its probably possible to live without ever having to take out any physical cash at all. If they come up with a way to let you easily transfer cash to another person quickly, electronically and from anywhere (using your phone, that you already use for other transactions, perhaps?), then you could almost certainly completely dump it if you wanted.

"It has always been cheaper to go with a 'standard' design but where's the profit in that?"
This logic is extremely circular. Sounds like big business to me!

I wasn't aware that the PS3 was released in 2004.
Mod this up,
+1 copyright infringement
I believe the above anon coward was asking a rhetorical question. This may be why you do not understand it - there's nothing to understand.
Ironically, the day they invent a Bittorrent client that can suck you off will be the day they kill Bittorrent. At least for porn.

Oh well, great minds think alike.

As far as I'm aware, most UK schools don't have metal detectors to check for guns.
I was able to completely dismantle a cot while still being young enough to actually sleep in it.

The thing with the android market is that it doesn't offer you apps that wont work on your phone, at least if the author sets it up correctly.
I can't actually find the original source, but a while ago Google stated that future versions of android would run separate from versions of the google apps, separating them so that users don't need the latest OS to run the latest gapps.
This has already started happening, with the core apps later versions appearing in the market - http://android-apps.com/articles/reviews/google-puts-gmail-app-in-the-android-market-new-version-available-for-download/
"+" is just a shorthand for "00". If you want to dial +44, for example, you just dial 0044.
