    It might work with small paserine birds such as house sparrows, but there are a bunch of birds that consider snakes a healthy snack.
    Maybe the birds stay away because it's tacky and a terrible fashion choice. :P

    Yet, there's pretty good work made with GIMP, and really shoddy things done with Photoshop. It's just a tool. Real talent can make you amazing artwork out of a badly sharpened pencil. Same with music. Your tools will make your work easier, not better, and only if they adapt to your taste.
    Defending your tools so fervently, and telling others to grow up for not seeing the light, you come as much as a fanboy as the guy saying he's an actual fanboy.

    Recommending tor for safety is like telling someone that if they paint themselves orange and shout at the top of their lungs, nobody will notice them in a crowd.
    Let's face it, tor is pretty much synonymous with "pedophile, drug user, crook". Despite its best intentions, it's like painting a huge target on your back for the spies to focus on you, not "oh, this one is using tor! our efforts have been foiled!".

    The original question doesn't really ask about LaTeX, but everyone here is talking about that. So, is markdown used around or not?
    I do use Markdown, it's convenient for quick formatting. I am not going to use LaTeX just for a few simple bold/italics needs...

    Show me the people of your country doing something about it, and I will take your US bashing seriously.
    In my country we are worse off and people has no way to "act". It's easy to make demands for others, but how about "acting" yourself? You might be known as a "hero" and everything.
    Your post is also "saying", by the way. By your definition, it's "NOTHING".

    I live in metric world, and as a solar thermal installer, I can verify that all plumbing fixtures are indeed measured in inches. Knowing thermal installations made in the US, I can say we use the same copper fixtures.

    No, but there are other guys in prison, some violent or without a working moral compass. And he's talking about a life of misery once out of it, if he survived.
    If you are a honest worker, you can't recover from jail. It makes people think you are some violent crook, thus they won't hire you. It doesn't need to make sense to be true, and they surely won't bother pursuing the truth.

    Glad they are using nvidia video, it always worked the best on linux. I kept hearing rumors about them having AMD video and it was really making me not want a Steam Machine, but now I am willing to give it a go!

    ...and what SIM card does it use? Because you don't get 3G without a SIM card, and 3G is not free to use. You get the bill for it, or does Intel have some form of international superserver?

    That is truly not normal. I use Ubuntu with KDE4 and it always boots to desktop...in fact I just checked and seems the alternative KDE "modes" aren't even installed automatically anymore, seems you need to tell the package manager to install them.
    Perhaps you got involved in a nasty bug, but I used every release since KDE4 existed and never got that strange behavior. Anyway, it sure is fixed now, you can't boot to notebook/tablet interfaces without explicitly asking for them.
    (Then again I use nvidia drivers, it works well with my average-priced nvidia cards and only crashed on me once on...2004)

    I use Ubuntu, but I don't use Unity. After customizing both distros are practically the same thing after all.

    Your optimism is disheartening and is perhaps only limited to your own country.
    Haven't you considered that? If you leave a job you are telling the next employer "I might leave you too".

    Here in my country trying to find a job is already difficult, you won't find a job if you leave or are fired, period. The next employer considers it bad and "not loyal enough" to give you a salary. The only way to stay in business is to have your contract finish naturally.

    Online advertisements are the complete opposite of "enticing", they have no creativity, no catchy jingles, and they don't even advertise stuff available in your country (if you aren't from the US). A far cry from what used to be professional marketing.

  19. CM doesn't support my phone, and from the likes of it, it seems I will never be able to try it now without changing phones...if it's even free when I do get one.
    Let's see how long it takes for the first "We are a company and we need to make it profitable" piece of news where they axe or modify a major component or news about spying, adware or NSA backdoors.

    I use it myself, great alarm and white noise (my street is really noisy), and binaural beats help me avoid thinking about things while falling asleep.
    However the lucid dreaming mode always sounds a bit too late for me, when I am actually awake. I am narcoleptic and perhaps that influences the measurements, but, alas, I could never it to work...

    Perhaps you grew up too much. You are judging a completely useful piece of software because it doesn't work in your fossil device? That's like blaming Windows XP for not running on your Commodore 64.

    But, how mature are you when you can't let a friendly recommendation pass without bashing it for being too heavy? Don't try to sound like the better man, your childish reaction to my recommendation came first, and you are unhappy because I challenge your opinion? Like a child does?
    And, yes, you seem to be a hater because your commentary was pretty uncalled for when I also recommended other things. Do you think people can't read the parent post and see the mention of FVWM there?

    But, like this reply you just produced, your replying is selective to support your argument better. More kiddie tactics.
    And sorry, if your devices can't run new software, just stay away from it, and don't bash people when it's recommended because it's too much for your obsolete machines. Progress is not going to cater to you only, you self-centered bigot.
