The iPod touch is still by far more difficult for normal internet usage than the eee. The only reason to wait for eee is to get the next gen that will likely have touchscreen and maybe a larger screen.
PS i am currently typing this from my eeePC and I love it:)
Who cares how accurate it was with an awesome entry like this: "1945 Germany Surrenders, Hitler kills himself, he never got to play LEGO or invade Legoland (take that sucker!)"
my thought exactly, nothing bothers me more than hear people brag about their technical exploits all the while I'm left to guess the only thing they really know about computers is how to poke around in Windows Control Panel and install RAM. Its my belief the smarter you are, the more you realize you know nothing. Kind of humbling really.
I hate to sound like some big businessman who clearly knows nothing but buzzwords, but perhaps Games as a Service (much like software as a service) is kinda the way to go. Now maybe I don't know what that really means, but if I could just point to an example such as Ubuntu. Its free. However they still make money from selling tech support among other things. So why can't games do the same? Give away the free single player game, then charge for the online, either once or as a subscription (much as was said earlier about Savage 2).
Course I guess it would simply turn all games into MMO games in essense, plus single player game content would take a back seat to the multiplay content, so games like MassEffect wouldn't appear as attractive. I suppose in the end, its entirely up to the developer and the game at hand to determine the most optimal pricing structure, because one structure for all games simply cannot work.
Yes you hit precisely what I was getting at, while I do fear i came off as being an anti-MS zombie, my point was that the title of the story and the article seem to directly imply Apache is at fault, when in fact it is *most likely* the result of someone using Apache to infect Windows. Wording it seems was against both of us.
"the current thinking is that the malware authors gained access to the servers using stolen root passwords"
so basically its most likely they used the traditional means of gaining access (not through holes, but merely through bad personal security practices regarding passwords and password management). And it only affects windows clients. So how is this problem not your typical someone cracked your machine? Oh wait, I smell Microsoft FUD... ewwwwww
MTV (and radio) was really the big thing that kept people informed about new music to buy during the 80's and 90's. Now, the more people that only listen to the music they already have on their PCs and portable media players, it means less who are listening to potentially new music for them to buy. So in essence what is needed is a better way to listen to new music, online, the FULL song, and then and only then will the person decide to buy the song/album. Oh and one hit wonders and dance songs don't sell albums, mostly singles.
There's plenty of body heat to go around to power such things... course making a generator so small as to utilize that would be quite tricky to be sure. This is all really just part of nano-technology in general, once they can power tiny nano bots traveling through our bodies this would just be right alongside that.
I think he's talking about cheating the rules. Sure you can't manifest gold out of thin air, but you can certainly swindle, steal, or otherwise obtain gold/monies by means other than earning it. So yes, in a way, there are laws and consequences to breaking them in real life and in games. The idea here is to make sure that those games have ways to make sure that those who break the "laws" are "punished", because thats the only real way to prevent people from breaking the "law" is the risk of punishment. Cause-effect.
I hate to be one to point out the shortcomings of others, but how can you expect to be a good user interface designer when something as simple as trimming some hair seems a daunting task?
maybe.. but it'll certainly bend. I'm just wondering how much force is needed to snap the LCD off from the base, as constant abuse can wear down the top portion of a laptop and one day just goes SNAP
If I was president, I'd get elected on Friday, assassinated on Saturday, and buried on Sunday.
If I was president... If I was president
An old man told me, instead of spending billions on the war, we can use some of that money, in the ghetto. I know some so poor, they use the spring as the shower, when screaming "fight the power". That's when the vulture devoured
[chorus] If I was president, I'd get elected on Friday, assasinated on Saturday, and buried on Sunday.
If I was president... If I was president... If I was president... If I was president
But the radio won't play this. They call this rebel music. How can you refuse it, children of moses?
[chorus] If I was president, I'd get elected on Friday, assassinated on Saturday, and buried on Sunday.
If I was president... If i was president
Tell the children the truth, the truth. Christopher Columbus didn't discover America. Tell them the truth. The truth YEAH! Tell them about Marcus Garvey. The truth YEAH! The truth. Tell them about Martin Luther King. Tell them the truth. The Truth. Tell them about JFK
If I was President [chorus] If I was president, I'd get elected on Friday, assassinated on Saturday, and buried on Sunday.
I really liked the presentation and the way things looked in general when i tried the Kubuntu with KDE 4 RC1, however when I tried it there were some serious graphics issues especially with the widgets on my laptop (which has an intel graphics set). So hopefully they've fixed that in the last couple months because I definitely plan to try it out again! Who knows, maybe this would even be perfect for the eeePC:)
I think their real beef with java isn't that it over simplifies things, but that simpler people are able to use it. They completely forget that there will still be bad programmers and there will still be good programmers (and of course all those in between), but that has nothing to do with java. It has to do with where the money is, and when there's plenty of jobs for programmers you're going to get people in there who probably should not be programming, but do anyway so they can get a solid paycheck.

Let me guess, you just lost on the gameshow "The Apprentice" and you feel sore about it.
PS. YOU'RE FIRED!
maybe it was a rhetorical question? (just like this one)
And also begs the question, what shape would the corkscrew opener be for that? the shape of a bottle perhaps?

Not if he makes another Commander Keen :) (fingers still crossed on that one)
Mac users don't play games, they play Photoshop.

Wormux is pretty fun, it might be lacking a few of the nice features of Worms 2, but hey, its free and still loads of fun!
:)
frozen bubble, scorched 3d, super tux, and bomber clone are all also very decent games and are available from apt/Synaptic
Don't remember too much about this game except it was kinda like a mix of Raiden and Starfox.
found a link though: linky
FYI Lyrics by Wyclef Jean, "If I Was President"
If I was president,
I'd get elected on Friday, assassinated on Saturday,
and buried on Sunday.
If I was president...
If I was president
An old man told me, instead of spending billions on the war,
we can use some of that money, in the ghetto.
I know some so poor, they use the spring as the shower,
when screaming "fight the power".
That's when the vulture devoured
[chorus]
If I was president,
I'd get elected on Friday, assasinated on Saturday,
and buried on Sunday.
If I was president...
If I was president...
If I was president...
If I was president
But the radio won't play this.
They call this rebel music.
How can you refuse it, children of moses?
[chorus]
If I was president,
I'd get elected on Friday, assassinated on Saturday,
and buried on Sunday.
If I was president...
If i was president
Tell the children the truth, the truth.
Christopher Columbus didn't discover America.
Tell them the truth.
The truth
YEAH! Tell them about Marcus Garvey.
The truth YEAH! The truth.
Tell them about Martin Luther King.
Tell them the truth.
The Truth.
Tell them about JFK
If I was President
[chorus]
If I was president,
I'd get elected on Friday, assassinated on Saturday,
and buried on Sunday.
If I was president...
If I was president
they'll tell you the sky is purple if you'll only buy a Mac because of it
P.S. My Mac Mini rules

How about make the security so tight that very few people actually want to fly anymore... brilliant!
Or you always do more profiling, I hear thats popular these days when you don't want people to fly.
You can also put the terror alert level up to code Magma Hot Super Extreme Red. Red means bad, so people will avoid flying for sure then.
