  1. What about moisture damage? on The Arctic Doomsday Seed Vault · · Score: 4, Interesting

I recall reading about a vault made in the 50's that was recently opened, and stored inside was some vintage car that had turned into a rust bucket due to the moisture which somehow got into the vault... now maybe technology of today is a little better for sealing things off but how long can you really keep a seed safe from the damage that the mere passing of time can cause unless you put it in cryo stasis with a power source that will last a very long time?

  2. Too bad Hellgate: London sucked on Level Design For Games · · Score: 1, Informative

I played the demo of the game and found it to be about as fun as whack-a-mole. I guess to me it just felt like they were trying to go for a Diablo like feel, but doing very poorly at it. For example if you took the melee fighter, there was only a couple of swing animations and it was tough to hit enemies properly as it was tough to determine the range to the opponent. If you took the gun fighter, it just felt like a cheap old FPS since the enemies had zero intelligence (much like you'd find in a Diablo like game).

Sure there's more butt kicking to be had in the sequels but it didn't leave me feeling confused or bewildered as the main mission or task at hand was more or less complete. 13. Re:Compatible Media Streamers on Xbox Live Fall Update Drops Tomorrow · · Score: 1

The biggest problem I have with using my xbox 360 for streaming video, is that its too LOUD. Once those fans in the 360 start kicking up, you're going to hear it the entire show. I've found it much nicer to load up front row on a mac mini connected to my LCD TV then stream the XviD from the server over the windows share.

However, uPnP is still something I wish front row could do, and will definitely make using my 360 more attractive when I can use a linux movie server as opposed to a windows server (I also run TVersity, but its not as necessary after this update since it can stream XviD already).

Is there anything out there which can help dampen the sound of the 360 other than storing it in a cabinet?

Game sales for the Wii might be a tad difficult in the future, as most people I know who have one only need it for the 5 or fewer games they care to play. Sure the new Super Smash Bros game is most likely gonna tempt me to finally go out and buy one, the problem is that there's only about 5 other games I'd go for. The casual gaming market may indeed be a very big one, only problem is you just can't sell a casual gamer on too much.

I didn't RTFA (I must not be new here) but people don't choose Macs because of any of the Apple's features. People choose Macs for stability and freedom from viruses and other shitware (the reasons we wipe Windows and install Linux) and because some high end graphics programs either aren't ported to Windows or are ported badly.

While its true macs are comparatively far more stable and free from viruses when compared to windows, assuming they are 100% free of this stuff is being naive. Not to defend windows or attack the mac or anything, but the point is that macs aren't perfect, but they are good. Unfortunately their price tags keep most people away, why pay double for a mac when you can get a regular PC? Course with more linux pcs for sale which undercut even windows machines by 200 bucks, such as that walmart everex machine, macs might be in trouble if linux doesn't die in the consumer market again.
