Don't worry, the Unreal 3 Engine running at 2560x1600 can take full advantage of this stuff... just wait until Vanguard: Saga of Heroes goes Unreal 3:)
English is usually a fairly common point kind of language, even if not everyone knows how to speak it, the fact is that that people of other languages can often communicate together in some fashion through English since its taught pretty much everywhere.
Anywho, I think the main point of this project is to enlighten those who give a damn.
I do wonder how they'll sort the facts from the fud. Kudos if they can pull it off, it seems like a great way to use the ease of information spread that the internet provides. Bring on the truthiness!
"Lacks serious literary, artistic, political or scientific value for minors."
yeah, there's not a chance for this one. seriously, why do they keep trying? I mean all they really need to do is figure out how to punish people who sell M rated games to those under 17... but if the parents buy it I can't see them being able to do JACK.
I mean like wouldn't it be like totally rad if I could like buy the same clothes from like the same store... but totally online! It could even be like the same price, but only my online self would wear it, I mean wow! Now I can like totally be popular in school AND online!
if they're going to sell a 120GB hard drive, it better not cost six times the amount of the current 20GB addon ($100).
I mean unless that 20GB drive is using flash memory, there's not point to pricing that high.
unlike movies, games have the unique ability to be expanded upon without creating an entirely new game/episode. Modding (even if commercially) is one of the greatest things to have ever happened to games. Just look at the successes of CounterStrike and Desert Combat. It seems the problem with episodic games is that their lifespan, or playability, shrinks down to that of movies. Modding can help keep the original game's work going for years, while at the same time introducing new material.
I will have to agree with your statement about the weapons in GRAW, and how they all feel exactly the same... but to me it seems they've done a better job in Vegas, by having each weapon different from each other in subtle, yet important ways. For instance, each weapon has certain ratings pertaining to its accuracy, damage, clip size... also some weapons can have silencers while others can't (important for keeping yourself off your opponents radar)
lastly, most weapons have a few customization options, such as larger clip size, laser pointer, scope, recoil stock, etc...
anywho the point is, that while I grew very bored of GRAW multiplay, I for some reason keep going back and playing Vegas while Gears and CoD3 just sits there whimpering for me to play them. They'll still get their turns, but I just think its a blast:)
I love Gears for that fact, but sometimes you just gotta play with a whole flock of fodder for your gun:)
also, I have found Rainbow Six Vegas to be extremely entertaining due to its unforgiving, yet realistic and fun damage models. Its great taking those guys out who think the game is like Halo or something. Also I suppose the ability to choose your weapons and the large number of weapons to choose from in Vegas makes it that much more appealing than Gears at times.
Even though Mechwarrior 4 (Microsoft) didn't have the customization that 2 and 3 had (activision), I found 4 to be the most enjoyable one, mainly due to good multiplayer and the fact that its customization though simpler, was still very powerful and more realistic (as realistic as huge walking robots can be anyway)
i still hope the day soon comes where we'll get another mechwarrior, the mechassault games were just temporary distractions
I keep hearing this saying that gameplay is more important to graphics as if they're completely separate entities, and it's completely wrong. Graphics convey a sense of immersion, and a sense of immersion is what pulls people into living the experience that much more. The only reason this argument ever comes up is from the plethora of games that license a beautiful engine and completely waste the opportunity to create a fun gaming experience. They are equally important in my eyes.
Sounds almost like me (albeit 20 years older than me) after I got my Border Collie, she's awesome, but completely insane. Thank god I recently got a treadmill... put her on that sucker for about an hour or two a day and she's a lot more managable.
waiting. People HATE waiting. Especially when it comes to machines, where they're supposed to be so fast they're supposed to always be waiting for you to do something. Take a look at the iPod and mobile phones - wait time is never more than a few seconds (give or take a few seconds) even when the machine has been fully turned off. People expect this of PCs also.
This is why Sleep and Hibernate are such big items. Personally I hate sleep mode, because hibernate completely turns the machine off and generally brings the machine back in about 10-15 seconds.
however, the big issue is boot-up time from a non-hibernated system. Sure, on a fresh install of Windows you might see everything up and ready in 20 seconds, which should be fine for most, but once you've used the machine for almost a year and have all that extra crap running on your PC, that time is taken to over 2 minutes to wait for all the services to start sometimes (on an average laptop).
Obviously a couple minutes isn't bad to the patient type who can turn the PC on, walk off and do something else, then come back later... but the average user isn't patient and wants it a minute before they turned it on.
So what is there to do about it? I say, work on the Hibernation, make it the default and almost only option, and make it fast. Hard drives are more than big enough to store the extra RAM, fast enough (especially with flash hyrbrids), and you can still unplug the PC without a fuss. If there's one other option that should be included, it should be a almost-idle mode. This way, Instant Messagers and downloaders can still work away while you're away, but since these only need 25% or so of the PCs processor speed, it should only require 25% of the power it usually draws. Have it slow down the Hard drive speeds as well and it should be set!
Gears of War - excellent 2 player co-op and 8-player deathmatch Perfect Dark - decent co-op and deathmatch Call of Duty 3 - some of the best multiplayer i've played on the 360 (24 players max) 4 player split screen (no co-op)
and then there's plenty of sports games and racing games (Project Gotham Racing 3 and Test Drive Unlimited are excellent)
not to be an anti-MS cronie, but.NET is a very.NOW thing, and will likely be outdone in a matter of years. Not saying perl will live longer than that, however perl could lead to other new things down the road. Besides I'd rather enjoy what I'm doing so at the end of the week I don't feel like I wasted another 5 days of my life. Life is short, do what makes you happy.
the way I see it, is that people don't need several consoles hanging around the house, when instead they could have one or two that can play em all. If it were a perfect world, a PS3 could play any game ever made on CD or DVD, same with the xbox 360. That is, if they were more like PC's instead of proprietary pieces of hardware that they try to lock you in with the purchase of one over the other, or in the case where you're willing to blow more money, all of the above.
too bad it ain't a perfect world. In the meantime, just pay the money and enjoy the ride:)

hell, if they throw in some 3D capable linux drivers for their video card on the PS3, I'd go for it. with the 200 dollar rebate of course :)
Go now, buffer that count!
and she's curing cancer like she's never cured before!
i bet he cheated and just copy-pasted from a symbols library in an office application :P

I rather prefer Error -1: Array index out of Bounds, programmer forgot to check array size first, what a schmuck :(
He's not bashing against evolution folks, he's saying the surviving lizards have shorter average leg length because the predator ATE them!
i sure hope loss of a sense of humor isn't another evolutionary trend among humans...
