    when programming in linux, one must not ask "can it be done", but rather "how is it done". Its more than possible, and probably in a better and safer way than can be done with windows. In short, the answer is almost always YES.

    I've played through all the way once and found it to be entertaining throughout even with the leveling. I never dreaded a bandit, although I suppose I could have dreaded some of the bigger beasties more (since it seems they were leveled down) but it was a fun experience nonetheless.

    the thing I hate most about some game reviews and previews is the often terrible grammar. Now i'm not nazi when it comes to this, but quite often its just really terrible.

    additionally some reviewers/previewers tend to repeatedly nitpick/hype certain game elements that really didn't need more than a single mention of that piece of info.

    I suppose the only thing left for me to complain about is reviews that either say too much, or say too little about a game. The depth and scope of a game should tell how long a review should be, not how popular it may be before the game was released due to hype.

    While not a perfect 10/10 game, Oblivion is an amazing game simply because it does so much right that games over the last 10 years or more have manager to do wrong over and over and over again.

    Its probably just that they hired BAD coders, let alone what nationality they are. Sure its possible, but if they're spending such large amounts of money and expect good results they better be hiring good programmers who won't screw things up.

    It'll be funny seeing how many of these people who campout actually never intend to play it and instead sell it on ebay for like 1000 bucks. Its truly a shameful way to make a buck. Though I guess if only an extra couple hundred bucks profit on a free ride makes you that happy, you have more problems anyway.

    hmmm, kinda like that whole "its not the size, its how you use it" sexual innuendo line. Seriously though, why does a game need 30 GB unless there's a freakin ton of voiceover work, cutscenes (which are not gameplay, yo), and large useless textures?

    that is precisely what will kill them. Unless they take the price down drastically after 1 year, it'll take 2, 3, or even more years just to pick up sales for what is supposed to bring the money in (the games and accessories)

    ebay is pretty much just covering their asses since its always probable that these people who have pre-order will not get the system as promised by the vendor.

    I just laugh and grin at any poor schmuck who feels that paying that much more money just to have it a few months early is a worthwhile investment. What dumb people live in this world, and a damn good thing there's people out there to take advantage of them. not that I would ever do that, i'd rather play the console after paying regular price :-)

    This obviously won't work for someone without the use of both hands, or who has the feeling removed from their hands (a stranger?). However the biggest problem I would see is for the everyday person who may not be able to tell enough of a difference between each touch thingy to be able to enter their touchcode reliably a majority of the time. Though I suppose we'd learn if we had to, it just seems that the main reason why the blind get really good at reading braille is because they don't have a choice, not to mention they have a lot more processing power from their brain going to their other non-visual senses.

    amen! The really sad thing is that even though in an MMO money and experience actually gets you in-game benefits such as cool new abilities, weapons etc...

    i do not however see the same kind of benefit from merely a higher gamerscore and more achievements. besides being able to brag about how high it is, there's no kind of "tangible" benefit from the game (cept maybe being able to play all levels again in Hardcore-Beat-yourself-up mode)

    for the price of free, OpenOffice is at least a hundred times better than MS office (or should I say a hundred dollars better). I also actually prefer the look of Open office now anyway, it just seems to be a lot crisper. It sure could use some work in its menu systems, simply because it has so many powerful options and they're not always in the expected place, but getting used to it doesn't take too long.

    as for format differences of files, blame Microsoft for creating a propietary file format and locking you into paying for a product that you could otherwise get for free (aka openoffice.org)

    I don't see why people should get so upset, its just like the corner street knockoffs. Make your brand famous and people will come to you, especially if you continue to innovate. You're only wasting your money and time trying to knockout the knockoffs... hmm this sounds a lot like the DMCA debate...
