    I'm not entirely familiar with European city planning, but from what I've been told, European cities are much more pedestrian-friendly. Most US cities, however, are designed around highways, because that's where all the traffic is. This makes it much more difficult to survive without a car, since walking the highway isn't a bright idea and public transportation often doesn't make stops along major highways.

    Most Americans refer to it as measurement system as "Customary" or "Traditional" rather than "English".

    Religion is Man's doing. Even if it was done in the best of intentions.
    Based on what I've read in the Bible, I'd believe God implemented religion, specifically Judaism/Christianity. However I'd have to agree with you that, like always, Mankind has thoroughly mucked up God's handiwork.

    leave out most of the milk (thought to contribute to kidney stones)

    Do you have any evidence for this? I go through a gallon of whole or 2% milk (depending on the prices) in about 2 days. I've been drinking milk like this all my life and I've never had any kind of kidney problems. Yes, I know my evidence is entirely anecdotal, but I figured my doctor might have mentioned something to me if drinking that much milk was really a health risk.

    The film version of Battlefield Earth is a travesty. While not a great masterpiece, the original book is significantly better than its film counterpart. I recommend it. And no, I'm not a Scientologist.

    It'd probably go a long way towards helping us Americans loose all that extra poundage our bodies are carrying. Trouble is, most cities aren't bicycle-friendly, at least not any I've been to.

    You're not the only one. I don't use Beryl because frankly I can't find any benefit from it. It makes makes for a shiny desktop but more often than not it gets in the way. When eye candy becomes distracting, it's no longer eye candy, it's merely clutter.

    Based on conversations I've had with Chinese immigrants, the poverty in China is much worse/widespread than poverty in the US. I was just pointing out the idiocy of the AC GP's method of argument.
