Considering how long America refused to recognise the copyright of other countries, in fact it's not even 20 years since they started, does that mean we all get a big apology and a huge payout for the lost billions (after inflation) that their bigotry has cost??
For the clueless amongst us (myself included) can you explain what you're talking about?
The series has already finished in Canada and the UK. For some incredibly stupid reason the US broadcaster, Sci-Fi, decided to take a 6 month break half-way into the season and the last 10 episodes won't be aired until sometime in April.
Reasons
1) It's free. You're not shelling out big bucks for an operating system or the programs that go along with it.
2) Support is fairly simple to find. Most, if not all, Linux distros I'm aware of have a help forum of one kind or another.
What interface are you referring to then?
The biggest drawback to Linux is that it requires a modicum of intelligence to learn. God forbid anyone should have to expend effort in an attempt to learn something new these days.
Taxpayers don't have a say in every purchasing decision the government makes. Why the hell shouldn't we? As far as I'm aware of, the govt is using our tax dollars to pay for it right?
I suspect it may have something to do the way we vocally say the date. If you ask an American the date, he/she will most like reply "March the 12th" rather than "The 12th of March." We then write it down the way we say it. OTOH, we might just say it that way because of the way we write it.
I'm not expecting magical fluency upon entry to the US, but I don't think it's unreasonable to ask an immigrant to make an attempt to learn English. If you're going to live somewhere, it's just good manners to try and learn the native language, even if you never become proficient.
As a side note, a true story: I live in an area of Texas where a small but significant amount of the population speaks Spanish as a primary language. One day a customer who spoke only Spanish came into my workplace. While not fluent, I do speak some Spanish, so I attempted to translate for her. She spoke rapidly despite my repeated requests for her to slow down and got upset when I didn't translate fast enough. She insulted me for not being fluent in Spanish and then told me that everyone working there should be required by law to learn Spanish.
"At my work (city hall) bilinguals get $600 extra per month just for knowing another language." I fail to see your point. Don't additional skills usually warrant an increase in paygrade?
Oh, for crying out loud, it's Amish, not Omish! If you were trying to make a joke about impedence (which I hope you would resist) that would be spelled "Ohmish".

Try Jamendo. All music on the site is entirely free to listen to and download.
Didn't Christ get the death penalty for stuff like that? *ducks*
It would appear that nobody in South Dakota has an identity worth stealing. That's gotta hurt your pride.

True, but I really doubt the government cares about "the freedoms of software." For them, the bottom line is the important thing.

Better get your Old Glory insurance policy quick then!
Because it's easier to milk more money out of Joe Sixpack that way.
I've heard the biggest problem is weight actually. Supposedly a rig like this weighs wonton.
Be part of the solution, or... you know the rest.
...be part of the precipitate?
Only if you have multiple personalities.
Tom Cruise? Is that you?
I'm betting it's mostly water.
To borrow a phrase, trust but verify.

Yes, because children (or people in general) are completely incapable of learning how to use Linux.

Because EFIRA and YAGOLAPCA aren't catchy acronyms. Although they sound like catchy names for D&D characters.
What companies exist outside of the **AA? I thought they controlled the whole shebang?
The Canadian Navy: Two canoes and platoon of flying squirrels. :)
