    you can use existing open source software or contract someone to modify an existing open source program. in both cases the resulting source code is free for all. also, if a MBA wants to shoot their company in the foot, the company should do something about it. if all the MBAs in the company wan to shoot their company in the foot, that's darwinism.

    So your solution is that a business should purchase that source code from the vendor, hire developers and testers to fix, test and maintain the code?

    wrong on all counts! my solutions is not using closed source to start with!

  6. a lot of their problems stem from protectionism of national economies and cultures. the protectionist rules in place are actually partitioning each country from one another which makes it impossible to have unified anything. to have a unified marketplace, you need a unified government.

    China already gets powerful multi-core ARM chips at dirt cheap prices, so this isn't a matter of saving money. The only logical reason they would be making custom chips (and so soon) is they are modifying an existing chip and adding a hardware backdoor. With hardware backdoors in every server in china, they can control information much easier and identify dissidents.

    what this effectively says is that "workers paid companies to replace them with robots" which is only a good idea if the companies in turn pay to take care of those who lost their jobs. don't get me wrong, full automation is the [inevitable] future and it should be embraced but it will only be sustainable if the benefits of automation are shared rather than consolidated. this is the basis of a post-scarcity world.
