Umm... why are you expecting "journalists" to abide by the Hippocratic Oath? Their entire existence is based around exposing those with harmful behaviors. Given the CIAs track record, I'm not surprised they are considered harmful.
Also, exposing the zero-days will ensure that software is fixed and malware signatures will be added antivirus databases.
Now, thanks to WikiLeaks, any attacker can start to build their own infrastructure from source, that looks just like the CIA. This in turn opens the door to more successful untraceable attacks and false-flag operations. By raising the banner of "journalism", WikiLeaks has yet again contributed to more damaging attacks and escalating conflicts.
That sure sounds like they have created an incentive for government agencies to focus on defending systems rather than exploiting systems.
The lesson to be learned here is simple: never create something that you wouldn't want to fall into the hands of your worst enemy.
Now, this young boy gets to grow up and have a chance to create new lives with these sores and the crippling pain that is associated with it.
FTFY.
It's good that we have developed this technology but it is a partial fix. We need to push further with gene therapy to prevent the distribution of genetic ailments. Anything less is unethical treatment toward either one child or many people that have yet to be born. We cannot rely on people with such ailments to voluntarily not pass on their genetic code.
Those are some pretty heavy handed generalizations you're making there... Being a bigoted oaf in response to a bigoted oaf really doesn't do much other than make yourself look just as bad as them.
Is your response really, "you aren't properly representing bigots"?
I love technology but I know that we should be very weary of our own technological advancement because of the amount of power it can give a small group of people or a single individual. Technology itself is harmless (until it starts thinking for itself) but it's the sociopaths that exploit technologies in the worst possible way that you should fear because they will take advantage of it. This means that all new technology should be viewed through the lens of "how could someone use this against me" because it's going to happen.
Welcome to the dystopian present where a large portion of the population is addicted to some smartphone applications as a result of neuroscience.
Call me "old fashion" or "out of touch" but I don't own a smartphone or a laptop. What I do own is a desktop computer and a "feature phone". One stays plugged in all the time and the other needs charging every few weeks. If you cannot wait until you get to a computer terminal to access information then perhaps you should reconsider your priorities in life.
What has to actually change to prevent these kind of out of proportion, justice and claims?
The election laws in enough places that we can have enough sane representatives to overcome the insane/corrupt ones that are promoted by corporate donations. There are very real ways to change the system but it all comes down to having representatives that represent the people instead of corporations.
We can reuse today. We don't, because we humans happen to suck at recycling. That's not because we suck at chemistry. It's because we suck at policy and enforcement.
I agree with that. However, to begin flailing about the amount of nickel we have now is far more likely to undermine far more important efforts like moving people over to EVs. When we run begin running into supply issues then we can address them far more easily because there becomes a monetary incentive for doing so. When the price of X increases efforts to reuse and reclaim it from old Y will also increase. Landfill mining is a real thing because metals are easy to reclaim.
And Billy realized the gypsy's curse hadn't turned him into a pumpkin man, it had turned him into... the US President! Billy could not find the words to express his terror for all that could come out was a shriek into the Twitter abyss, "NO! FAKE NEWS! THERE WAS NO COLLUSION!"
half the world’s nickel supply is too low in quality to use for car batteries.
1. There is plenty of nickel in the planet's crust. 2. Since nickel is an element, it can be refined into pure nickel with the application of chemistry. 3. All the elements in batteries can be extracted and reused, it's just a matter of chemistry.
Consider aluminum for a moment: despite being extremely abundant, it's rarely found in it's elemental state (which is why it used to be valued more than gold). Then we figured out how to extract it and now it's dirt cheap.
You really overestimate their intelligence. These are likely the same people who use Facebook and Windows despite repeated instances of blatant malicious behavior. There is a large portion of users that will not quit using abusive systems no matter the cost.
"an abusive, toxic 'boy's club' atmosphere, where women are ignored, abused, or degraded." Microsoft said it strongly disagrees with the allegations, saying "we ignore, abuse and degrade underlings regardless of gender."
That's an incomplete analogy. If you leave your door unlocked overnight, that's one thing but due to the speed of travel and automation with the internet, it's more like you left your door unlocked for 800 years. Finally after 800 years, someone steals your TV and you are shocked that such a thing could happen when the truth is that it was inevitable.
If something is bad for you and you refuse to stop doing it despite the negative consequences then it's called an addiction. If you drink so much that you destroy your own liver then you have earned your liver failure because that is no simple feat as it require years of heavy drinking. The only thing doing this would accomplish is enabling addicts in their addictions in a way that will be a further drain on society. This is the wrong approach to solving the problem at hand.
Security isn't flashy or cool but when everything comes to a grinding halt because of malware then you have earned it because you refused to invest in basic security.

Hell has frozen over.
It won't be frozen for long since the overclockers in Hell can now turn on their gaming rigs. ;)
And yet it's not really Audacious ;)
I agree with Captain Cow.

Listen to your elder... millennial. ;)
No. Just no. Not a potential no, a solid diamond-hard no. Like, seriously Chuck Norris testicles-hard no.
Ok... sooo... I'll put you down as a "maybe". ;)
...of course, you have to give them permission to do so, just the same as with this data, apparently.
As such, I fail to see the concern here. If an app requests that permission, simply deny it if it's a concern for you.
Unfortunately, we live in an age where a great deal of people will accept the abuse from Facebook because they believe "[t]he only other option is the self abuse of having no social life."
I feel like we are only just beginning to experience the consequence of having a society filled with "app addicts".
What has to actually change to prevent these kind of out of proportion, justice and claims?

Nope, you already agreed with me! No take-backs! ;)
Obviously
Well if it's a self-solving problem then it's not really a problem and thus it's alarmist bullshit. Thanks for agreeing! :)
Just because the industrial process is phyiscally possible doesn't mean the end result is valuable enough to attract the capital to produce it.
If we are truly going to "run out" of nickel that we need then the rising price of nickel will solve that problem.
What is the alternative to getting abuse from Windows? Linux, where half your software and at least one of your peripherals doesn't work,
Consider this: more software and hardware works with Linux than with Windows 10.
Don't berate people for not being 100% FSF certified, just build something better.
I'm not berating anyone but rather pointing to examples of the truth. Also, we have built better systems.
The only other option is the self abuse of having no social life.
If you are unable to have a social life without Facebook then it's time to learn about the time before Facebook.

Creepy stuff.

This is just click-bait alarmist bullshit.
I guess they won't make that mistake again.

"It is best not to blame systemd for problems that go away when you stop using systemd."
That reminds me of the new book from O'Reilly. ;)
So, by this logic, we shouldn't support needle exchanges? Heroin addicts *earn* blood borne diseases like hepatitis, right?
Incorrect. Blood-borne disease only requires a single instance of cross-contamination to be transmitted.
Most of the money is being funneled into the Stargate program to build more F-304s.
Oh how I wish that was true because at least humanity would be getting something useful.

No tears shall be shed for the PHBs at Merck.
