Are you versed in la droit civile? If so, I will defer to you. I don't know what is actionable in a Quebec court. They follow the french system, not the english system of common law. So I don't really know what is actionable.
The article also mentions harrassment by other students...but from what I can tell they weren't subject to the law suit.
Anyway, that was the damage claimed...as far as I can tell. Its up to the judge to throw it out and it sounds like it never got that far.
Article:
He said the situation left him feeling drained of energy, and that he let himself go and no longer lifted weights to keep fit.
He said he was diagnosed with depression by a pedopsychiatrist at Montreal's Sainte-Justine Hospital and his lawyers, in their fillings, said they wanted to have a psychiatrist and a psychologist testify, along with producing his medical file.
These are some of the damages. I never said they were legitimate, only that he claimed some damages - they are quoted above.
Lol, I thought for sure we were at 8 billion now. I guess what I always hear is "Oh no!!!! We'll reach 8B by 20xx!
But 500 million for W:ET? Sounds farfetched...
Fair enough. I see your point. I spoke too quickly. The majority once thought slavery was acceptable, now they don't. If it ever came back in vogue the majority could legalise it. It would be difficult (If I understand correctly, it would take the ratification of the congress, senate and all 50 state legislatures). If the majority wanted it bad enough, they could get it. In that case, the minority wouldn't be protected - thus your point: What society accept, and what is correct, is defined by the majority at any given time.
I agree partly - what society accepts is defined by the majority. Just not so sure if what "is correct" is defined by the majority. 300 million American's can be wrong. For instance, if they decided that the sun revolved around the earth...they would not be correct. However, in the case of morality - 300 millions dictating what's "right" would suggest that morality is "culturally relative." If that's the case, one could argue that morality can be deduced further - it's all realitive...down to the individual. You could even argue...that it does not exist. In that case...the majority rules anyway, by virtue of the fact that they hold power in their numbers.
blah blah blah...sorry for the verbal diarrhea. But, I do want to apologise for jumping the gun and calling you out. After thinking it through, you do have a valid point.
Except your constitution does not allow this. Your founding members wrote it to protect the minority from the tyranny of the majority. So, in the case of the US of A, you are wrong.
Depending on the state you reside in, the general chat channels are considered "public" accomodations. You have to pay to sit in a restaurant right? Yet, they can't discriminate against you.
Is it a game yet? Playable by gamers? If not, the project proves nothing. At least wait until its out before you make such a sweeping statement. It could be a bug-riddled piece of crap, for all you know.
Yes, that is shitty pay. I had no idea that NYC paid such crap.
On a side note...I seem to have touched a nerve with my comment above. I'm not advocating a government overthrow or a mass exodus to Canada. Jesus Christ people, get a union with balls already.
This has to be some sort of hoax. Aren't government employees in the States, or New York, unionised? If not, I apologise for my ignorance. I am a government employee in Canada. The most common way to fire me would be as part of a downsizing exercise and even in that case pains would be taken to transfer me elsewhere. The only other way would be to have a well documented case history of my incompentence. One game of solitaire just would not cut it. I don't know why anyone would put up with this and just shrug and say "oh well, he's the boss...you/he/I should shape up." You're reaction should be, damn...its time to get some organised labour up in here.
Those cities weren't built to scale though. They just placed it in three different settings like that for variety. If they try to build London to scale, say on a grander scale than the getaway, then there will be plenty of variety for everyone. You just have to see SF, Vegas, and LA as neighbourhoods of GTA:SA. If London will be the new setting, there will be plenty of neighbourhoods and variety to keep you interested.
I'm not trying to be an asshole. I am not trying to make personal attacks on you or make it seem like my faults are trivial and yours are not. I am just as ignorant and afraid as the next person. For instance: Religion. I know next to nothing about most world religions, and I fear them. However, that has not lead me to conclude that they should be illegal.
Thus, if we are going to make gay marriage illegal...I think we need more than just worries over what it will do to the "familial unit." I hope you understand where I am coming from.
A poster above indicated that Ghylsain Razaa refused the donations. You may want to check with the fundraiser to see what happened. Good luck.
This did not happen in the US. It happened in Canada.

Sorry, meant to write "video."

You can't capitalize on that; because, frankly, that vidoe sounds like a fucking bore.
The video wasn't his. He used school equipment to record the video. The tape and video equipment were all property of the school.
Read the article, his damages are listed there.

wouldn't it be 1/16th? Still, pretty impressive. ;)
It's not a mental disorder, that's why.

Cool, is the Punisher any good?
Or, should I say Bill of Rights? I'm guessing, if that's the case, your founding fathers did not write this document. I apologise for my ignorance.

No. There were no interrogations in jail in Max Payne.
GLBT - Gay/Lesbian/Bi-sexual/Transgendered.
I have anal sex with my girlfriend. I am not gay. So, no - anal sex is not gay friendly...it is simply..."gosh" anal sex.

Why is this guy modded to a 0? He actually sounds like he knows what he is talking about!
