And the unfortunate cop who pulled the trigger. 4 lives minimum, ruined.
The cop won't be punished. He'll be treated as a victim in this. The swatters will get good lawyers who will find some loophole in the law. The guy who answered the door is the only life that will have been ruined.
Last year I had to research local HVAC providers. Google was useless. There wasn't a single local result and every one looked like they SEOed the crap out of their site to rise to the top. Decided to go old school and use the yellow pages (the big paper book with yellow pages) instead and it was far more informative.
Please also share with your friends, family, and colleagues: you have a choice to support the ISPs that continue to support net neutrality and consumer privacy."
I have a choice to use Facebook and I don't and never will for the very reasons outlined in the Bloomberg article. My choice in accessing the Internet is either Comcast cable or AT&T twisted pair. That's it. Some don't even have a choice. Giving these oligarchies and monopolies a way to leverage their market position even more is what the net neutrality debate is about. Google, Facebook, and Microsoft should also be examined for anti-trust and perhaps split up but that's a different issue.
I COULD see a ban on murder-drones actually working though, as after the first time a crime family gets whacked, the black market won't touch them; people will go after individual sellers as well.
Sell a man a murder drone and he gets to murder once. Teach a man to configure a drone to murder and he can murder for a lifetime.
Nicotine is far more harmful to your health than caffeine. Vaping is better than inhaling whatever the hell is in that smoke. I tried vaping as a way to quit completely. The first few times I got a nicotine high. For those who don't smoke, or those who quit for awhile, you'll get a nicotine high the first few cigarettes that can make you light headed and want more. The highs get less and less the more you smoke. The increased nicotine concentration you get from vaping can make your nicotine addiction worse. Quitting smoking was one of the hardest but best things I ever did.
Blacklist microsoft.com, windowsupdate.com, live.com, and all subdomains of those three and your Windows 10 box won't send any telemetry back to Redmond or download any updates ever.
All the sudden you have what the DRM Corps want: A Computing platform where everything is a Rental transaction, and consumers money can be funneled from their wallets constantly. Thats what is happening now with iDevice owners.
To use this system I have to setup an elaborate camera and door lock system just so I don't have to rub elbows with the proletariat at the grocery store.
From the linked article: "The malware collected information such as computer name, a list of installed software, a list of running processes, MAC addresses for the first three network interfaces, and unique IDs to identify each computer in part. Researchers noted that the malware only ran on 32-bit systems.".
This sounds exactly what Windows 10 telemetry does.
Firefox recently auto updated itself (I forgot to disable it) and now my sound doesn't work because Firefox only supports Pulseaudio which is a pile of shit that caused my Ubuntu system to repeatedly crash. So I'm ALSA only. Fire up Chrome and it has no problem playing audio with ALSA only. There needs to be some kind of hippocratic oath for software where the first requirement is "do no harm." Windows 10, systemd, Gnome, etc. could also benefit from that philosophy.

Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.
Can the FCC's 'Net Neutrality' Decision Be Overturned in Congress?
Of course it can. Congress created the FCC, so it can make whatever law it wants to override FCC's decision. Will it is a better question.
Congress definitely will pass a law that overrides the FCC decision. Comcast, AT&T, and Verizon are writing one now as we speak.
I don't think this is a well thought-out idea.
Ajit Pai is behind this. What more can you expect?

I don't have this choice.
Dr. Strangelove is available on Netflix DVD if you can wait a day or two for it.

You can't do that? Then stop putting an internet connection on your fucking toaster and you're fine!
Stop telling your Internet connected toaster the IP of your gateway router. Problem solved.
Nothing wrong with C or perl as long as you use vi instead of emacs to edit it.

Call it QBasic.

Windows 10 is moving towards this as well.
To use this system I have to setup an elaborate camera and door lock system just so I don't have to rub elbows with the proletariat at the grocery store.
The reason people aren't flocking to the 8 is because Apple said "here's this thing, that's ok...but look over at THIS thing that's really awesome",

People still use Gnome.
Because the recent forced update bricked my computer.
Someting that doesn't allow third party anti virus software to detect malware is a feature.

because that's how much RAM my TRS-80 had.
Or Cortana decides your refrigerator needs a software upgrade and shuts it down for three hours while it installs.
