I actually find the whole situation ammusing. But I say good for them. I am glad the company knows its rights and will not be walked all over by a court system well known for allowing people to abuse the ability to file civil suits.
Plain sight, no wonder i missed it. 25 is a good age for representing younger voters. these days 30 isn't off the mark either. I Think it would be great to get some fresh blood in these. Of course I also support term limits for all public offices. move up or get out either way, new people, new ideas.
Running for office is actualy an option. If there were more candidates who took the platform of representing the younger voters who was actualy one of the younger voters they might have a chance of actualy drawing them out to vote. With the proper support and campaing advertising tapping into that demographic could wield powerful results.
from the article: The Air Force has paid for research into nonlethal weapons, but he said the service is unlikely to spend more money on development until injury problems are reviewed by medical experts and resolved. I dunno about you but that kind of statement makes me nervous about testing it at all on the public.
This just plain scares me. In a society where a criminal can sue the homeowner of the house he broke into and got injured AND WIN. I can only see this as ending poorly for site developers. But I will hope that someone realizes how foolish this kind of lawsuit is
Does anyone remember when we used to get a finished product on the shelves and you had to sign up to be a beta tester long before the product was released to the public?
Actualy that is incorrect. the disks for oem xp work fine on any pc. the recovery disks put out by Dell, HP, or any other pc maker only work with their machines.
How many users need an operating system that totes little more then some graphical enhancements and a severe increase in system requirements? Yes there are alot of people out there who will go out and buy it just because its new and shiney. There remains however little to need for anyone to upgrade. Until of course Microsoft discontinues support for XP and 2000.
It seems to me that they would do this sort of thing on purpose just to get people to go out and buy dvds instead. I can also see them using this to promote whatever HD formate the studio chooses to put disks out on.

I disagree, he enunciated every word like an oxford drop out.
Helping people avoid natural disasters is a good thing but I cannot see this program taking off too far. Too many people will fear what this progam could possibly be looking at other then just the vibration data. not to mention the possible exploits available to those looking use is maliciously.
If this is truely about their bottom line then microsoft has no choice but to make this patch critical. I also suspect in time they will make it a mandatory patch in Windows Media Player. One of those lovely updates it grabs online as soon as you open it.
Thats a broad generalization. I had a 10gb maxtor drive bouncing around in the rear window of my car for almost two years. When I finaly got around to pulling it out I put it in a pc to test, the drive worked perfectly with no noise and no overheating.
The simple truth is if they publish there they have to follow the laws there. This doesn't affect anyone out side of there. Just like any other product, if it doesn't comply with local law you can not sell it there. I fail to see how so many slashdotters can be so oblivious to this concept.
I say slashdotters should start a new campaign against this.

I have to agree the right to file is a good thing. but there are alot of suits that should be dropped immediatly on grounds of common sense.

I am using IE (I have to at work) and it seems to be working ok.

What is the minimum age for Congress? I cant find one. I am not saying there isnt one, I just cant seem to find it anywhere.

How about making our own country self sufficient?

hmm I have used it daily without issue. but i dont doubt you.
The company i work for has that with XP. Come to think of it, all you need is Ghost(or any other like program.)
