I dont know what worse, the fact that they feel they need a team of lawyers and scientists or the fact that they can create a monopoly with all these patents.
I would say I agree with the idea but it will never fall into practice. The Parent is right the only way to chage things is to do it by slowly convincing individuals around you. Lets face it, Slashdotters are nowhere near a representative of the average populous. Most people just dont know enough to care. I am all for educating the masses but it is going to take a long time before anything starts to change. For now people will continue to buy to music with DRM encryptions and not even notice because all they are doing is putting it right onto their IPod.
As for "Fighting the good fight" as with many things noble of intent, all it will do is promote the vicious cycle. Cycles of New Encryption, New Hack will continue to happen as long as the consuming masses are kept "blissfuly unware" of the extent they are being taken advantage of by the corperations of this world.
Do not misunderstand me, I would love to see these things change in the near future. However there is no logical reason to expect them to.
I recently purchased a pc from http://www.ibuypower.com/ for less money then I would have payed building it myself and far cheaper then anything from Alienware. I dont think anyone needs to pay that much for a fancy case. anyone who wants a fancy case that bad should be able to make one.
I know its off topic but I have to mention. I work supporting HP desktops for a call center and I would buy a Dell any day over HP. We just built this call center last september and put in over 1000 all new desktops. Almost 1/4 of those have failed already and we have a atleast two new failures a week.
It just goes to show you that that the internet is going to be responsable for the complete downfall of society. we need good christian values. If you boiled one offender in oil a week in public this sort of thing wouldn't get out of control. Heck if parents beat their kids regularly said kids might not go out and hurt other people

Take off the tinfoil hats. They only enhance the radio waves anyway. I suggest our new Carbon nanotube lead lined cowls and Special sun glasses. These itemse will clear your head and let you see the truth of it all. THEY want you to think we didnt goto the moon. THEY actualy took the footage because in the background their moonbase is visable. Find the footage, finde the base! THEY LIVE!!!
