I went to school with a guy who could tell if a piece was played in a 'flat' key or a 'sharp' key ie. in Db as opposed to C#. We would do this with improvisation and 99% of the time he would be correct.
How could anyone possibly come up with the stats to prove this (oh wait, I suppose they could Google it). At the very least, the numbers would be skewed because now more people have access to computers than ever before whereas in the past it was only educators and the scientific community that made any real use of the internet. This would naturally cause the baseline of intelligence for the pool of users to drop. Any real meaningful measure of the effects of using online search engines couldn't be done for at least another 5 - 10 years.
Parallel threads: Now that would be cool. Exception handling: Never had a problem before, but isn't that what Viagra is for? Race conditions: Haven't worried about that since I was 16.
This challenge would be great if they also had David Hasselhoff, Paula Abdul and John Schneider making comments after each piece of equipment installed.
You know, after the first read of your comment I agreed with you. But after I thought about it, if I had Parkisons, which isn't as treatable as diabetes, I just might consider this new treatment as an alternative. At least some forms of cancer are treatable, and with the prior knowledge of a 20% chance of occurance, it would seem that doctors would be able to get a jump on treatment of the cancer. Tough call.
Nice job. Now you went and let the cat out of the bag. Looks like I can scrap *that* project. Next thing I suppose you'll do is let them know that everyone removes all the adware that comes packaged with XP Home.
I contended for a while now that our computer has been controlling the brains of my kids. Finally there's some hope that we might be able to tip the tables.
I work for a Retirement Planning firm and I have to tell you that there is no way this plan will work. Here are the reasons why.
1. As someone else pointed out in another post, employers will have to send notification when an employee is hired and when they retire. Employers can't even send the proper notification of employment/termination to a firm which *they* hired to handle their retirement plans. What makes them magically start doing this for the government?
2. How will the information be sent to the appropriate agencies? Not even in a dream world are all companies equipped to transmit information electronically. Send it through the mail and there will be delays.
3. Who is going to oversee/validate the data? They'd better be using a good database because by virtue of it's existance, it'll have to hold twice as much data because everyone in the country will have to get a second or third job to support the inevitable increase in their taxes to support this moronic idea.
"This could be done in a day or less in the US. Some folks - a small number - would starve. Some people would be out of work. Tough, but there is welfare. A lot of businesses would collapse, putting more people out of work. Again, tough."
I'm glad you got that out early in your dissertation. That way I didn't have to read any more to come to the conclusion that you are a complete and utter moron. I especially liked the part about 'there is welfare'. Idiot.
There goes the neighborhood.
The origins of the expression: No Shit Sherlock

I sniffed Milos mom's password last night.
Then the works of J.S. Bach would still be protected, putting music teachers all over the world out of business.
Haven't liked him since he left Skid Row.

New Mexico, Mars - essentially the same thing. Still a f&*!king desert.
Actually, pulling it out of your ass is closer to the truth than you may think. You have to fart in the tank to get started.
"Never interfere with your adversary when they are in the process of committing suicide."
Or something to that effect.

Foxpro rocks. Fastest non-enterprise level database engine you'll find.
There, I said it.
... and this is your brain on Dual 768MB Nvidia GeForce 8800 Ultra graphics cards.
Best way to start the day. Whoo hoo!

does it run on Linux?
Where's all the hearty IE bashing that I've come to know and love around here?
Does it come in chocolate?

They would only be given this new authority if they promise to step down once the threat is vanquished....
.... now begun the click wars have!
