    then - when everyone can download everything without any fear of being caught - the CD sales will finally become THAT bad, that the music industry MUST start thinking about making better offers OR die... anyhow the result will be that all these crazy lawsuit-waves and the evil legislation lobbying will FINALLY come to an end

    the official version is always correct

    don't you think it's strange that this happened exactly on the day of the IE8 demo? and that IE8 rendered the test correctly despite that "error"?
    even in the (unlikely) case that it was a big coincidence - then IE8 still didn't pass the actual ACID2 test

    btw. - have the weapons of mass destruction been found in iraq yet?

    on the day of that demonstration all other browsers failed the test - all with the same error...

    there is only one explanation for this: the test had been changed on the day of that demonstration
    in effect IE8 did NOT pass the real ACID2 test - only some bogus test that was set up for the media...

    I just tried Acid2 on my FF 2.0.0.1.1 on Windows and it still looks like crap. How far behind is it?
    well... when is FF3 coming and when is IE8 coming, huh?
    besides the fact that MS cheated in the IE8 demonstration...

    You're saying Microsoft talked with ACID guys to change the official ACID web site that specific day for IE8 to pass it?
    I think this is pretty obvious, since the test had unquestionably been changed on the day when MS showed that IE8 "passes" the test... why else in the world would the test have been changed on that very day?

    Hairy conspiracy theory pretty much?
    yes, everything MS does is good and legal...

    The important thing is that IE8 will reach W3C compliancy levels expected by a modern browser.
    yes, all MS products always had all promised features...
    if IE8 had passed the unchanged test... but as it is, we have no indication that it will really reach W3C compliance...

    Should I also remind anyone that IE8 is under progress [...] that passes ACID.

    IE8 doesn't pass ACID so far, the demo was manipulated...
    on the day of that demo all other browsers had an error in rendering the test (they all had the same error)
    afaik it was even admitted, that the test had been changed temporarily...

    why are people so harsh with dnf? I say it isn't vaporware, because it's not like 3d realms made a lot of noise about it... they develp it. they admit it's a long time. they admit they made mistakes that set them back years. they say they don't know when they're finished...
    It's not like they said "soon" or "next year" years ago or something.

    I think something is vaporware, when the developer promises a releasedate and can't keep it... which 3d realms doesn't... yes, they take their time - which is their good right... they want it to be perfect when they release it... they don't show much of the progress, which is their good right either... they don't want to spoil your experience... why is this such a big problem for everyone?
    Why do they have to call it "the Emperor of the Ethereal, the Head Honcho of Hype"? WHICH HYPE DAMNIT? It seriously sounds like they HATE 3DR and want them to die a horrible death, just because they didn't release the game at a time that suited the authors! If this is your biggest problem, the GET A FSCKING LIFE!

    I'm waiting patiently for DNF, because I'm sure 3DR does a good job behind their closed doors - some day DNF will be released and it will be awesome - maybe not the graphics, but defenitely the gameplay... and I'm sure of this, because they are the creators of Duke3D, one of the imo greatest and most fun games EVER (I played it for YEARS and I'm still playing it every once in a while - with eDuke32 and the high resolution pack...)

    and now mod me down for I beleive that DNF will come some day and it won't be a miserable failiure
    I must be a stupid moron, who has no clue what he's talking about! you know so much better how DNFs quality will be, right? you even KNOW that DNF will never come, right? And therefore my posting is nonsense and must be modded down!

    I made a list once, that shows very clear, how "innovative" MS is...
    I listed pretty much all MS products and similar products that existed earlier. for each ms product there was a "prior art" product 14 months to 34 years earlier (ok, there are products that were the first in their sector - these are ALL products that MS didn't invent either, but that they bought from others)

    the list is in german, though (I didn't think I'd ever mention it on an english discussion board)

    I'm not a native english speaker and don't know this word, and don't ask what hillarious translations dict.leo.org offers... (dragons, bad cheques, the star constellation "Bootes",...)

    then, 2 years later they activate the killswitch and BANG - thats the end of the internet

    still the CD sales won't go up again, but drop to 0 - because without PCs, pretty much ALL businesses go bankrupt - everyone is unemployed, noone can afford a CD anymore... so all the labels go out of business, too... but at least piracy is gone... THANK GOD!!!
