So why do some religious people think life has no meaning for atheists, yet it does for them? They're the ones believing that they are living in a simulation run by God.
I talked about this with a friend yesterday, and we noticed that this was a very badly written article that gets basically everything wrong. But that's tech journalism for ya.
The OLPCs won't get into the hands of people under an oppressive government, because oppressive governments won't buy them for the people they are trying to starve.
The OLPCs are for people in developing countries who have governments that are trying to improve their people's conditions, and have already solved the immediate food problems, and are now moving onto problems like lack of education, health, and wealth.

IANAL, but I do remember from/. Law School (comments on previous articles) that copyright registration is helpful for when disputes arise, because you have proof of registration.
On Topic: I don't see why the asker cannot ask the forum poster if it is okay to use that code in a commercial application. The poster most likely posted the code to explain a concept to readers, and probably will not object.
Forks don't exist! They are filthy lies made up by so-called Open Sores coders! Sure, programs get bugfixes and new features once in a while, but nobody has ever seen a program fork in the software company! That is because it just doesn't happen! All programs were designed by intelligent developers for their own unique purpose! Look at your desktop, it is full of evidence of this! Do not listen to the filthy lies told by Open Sores heretics, purchase only software made by Microsoft! Windows Vista can now detect when it is crashing, and reboot quickly so you will hardly notice it!
Well, they could have guessed that something was up when Macrovision offered an update on their website.
It must have been very curious why Macrovision offered the update, but it was not in Windows Update. That meant that very few Windows users would install the update.
Comparing the old to the new version might have offered some clues as to what's going on, and allow them to find a way to exploit the old version.
Among other things, the bot can currently can plot out its own map of its surroundings and remember specific locations and, of course, change TV channels at your command (or, as you can see above, even serve as a TV itself)."
So they finally invented the remote control for the remote control?
This makes me think of those non-poisonous snakes that have the same kind of stripes as a poisonous snake species, so they benefit from the deterrence effect without needing to invest in poison glands themselves.
You don't get it. The test subjects believed the plane was going to crash, and they were all going to die, so they would have motivation to say, screw this. Because they believed they were going to die anyway. Also, since the forms were insurance waiver forms, their would actually be better off if they didn't fill them out.
Warcraft looks like Warhammer, because Games Workshop didn't want to licence their world to Blizzard when they were making Warcraft, so Blizzard made their own fantasy world. And GW published some mediocre video games in the meantime (with some notable exceptions, such as Space Crusade in 1991 and Dawn of War recently).
This was such a smart business decision by GW that they are currently both shifting from their current lead-free metal to 100% platinum in their metal miniatures AND planning a 90% price decrease at the same time!

In that case, you get your coat.

Education is a contraceptive. This site is living proof!

Yep, it felt like one giant re-run to me too.
Thank you, Captain Obvious!

Since when do mini-ITX boards come with a PCI-e or even AGP slot?
You misread the GP's entire post. It has nothing to do with explosions, just with the fear of them.
I think GP only wanted to have editor mods identified, and not normal user mods.
Funny, the story talks about the University of Advanced Technology, but the website calls it the University of Advancing Technology.
;-)
It's almost right, which is pretty good, by Slashdot editing standards
You forgot to add that you get all the bad pixels as well.
Now you're hacking their webserver too!
