What does the body do to virus-infected cells? It kills them.
We are the T-cells of the internet. From now on, Slashdot should provide links to virus-infected computers. As a result, the virus-infected computers will melt. Problem solved.
Just kidding, of course.
But seriously, what do you do to Jehovah witnesses? Because those virus-infected computers are a lot like them, only they preach Make Money Fast and Herbal Viagra, and they won't listen if you tell them to go away, instead, there'll be hundreds at your doorstep every day.
I think the owners of those virus-infected computers should be held responsible. That's the only way those people will be motivated to solve the problem. They might even try to sue MS for selling vulnerable software while lying it is secure.
You young whippersnappers. I remember when the property laws were introduced. I remember!
It was to enable those powerful bastards to own more stuff than they need, in order to prevent the poor people from benefiting from it! Property laws are a tool of oppression, but everyone just accepts them as just nowadays.
This is the most dangerous thing to come out of the US Congress in years. Sounds like McCarthy all over again.

Why would having the best update procedure be an irrelevant qualification? This is vital "mouse clicking fools" described in the other posts, because they won't update their signature files unless the update procedure is good (i.e. foolproof).
I'd consider it a vital qualification, because an outdated virus scanner is nearly useless.
So actually it's a pragmatic response that helps keep pedestrians alive, at the cost of a couple of seconds of waiting time. Sounds like a worthwhile tradeoff to me.
The same for me. I watched the ad, with sound and all, to get a "Free Day Pass", which supposedly means you can read articles for a day, but when I clicked the link to read the article, it was the same small piece of the article all over again.

Hehheh, at the bottom of that page:

A keyboard with a PS/2 style plug?
Sorry, no, the main site is up.
Nice little hosting business you have here. It would be a shame if an unfortunate accident were to befall it...
It seems like the Technical Staff will have a slight problem with their inbox too ;-)
Hah! In my days, we had to eat the brains of our teachers to gain their knowledge, so don't say they didn't lose anything by teaching us!
You young whippersnappers... grumble grumble...

Ah, things aren't as they used to be...
No, but it does require a root password.
I think you're actually talking about the grandparent post, not the parent post.

Nah, it would probably look more like...
UR SO FIRED CAMPFAG!!!1 UR EX BOSS!!1Let's see how our (Netherlands) traffic rules and roads measure up, then...
Check
We don't have that here anywhere.
I'm not sure what you're talking about, but the crossings that have traffic lights here, have them on all sides.
The pedestrian crossing time is adequate here.
Anyway, thanks for your insight. It turns out that pragmatism once again is not so useful as it looks at first...

Yes, I read the Slashdot stories at the time the MS code got leaked, and this is indeed a dangerous issue.
Would that apply to the leaked MS code as well? It's been on P2P networks for a while now, or so I've read.
Not that I'm particularly interested in it, there's so much code online, plus Windows just doesn't interest me much.
If you make a good point, does it really matter who you are, or where you're from?
(also in reply to the AC post here)
But what if some of the fibers need to be dark for the lock to open?
Sounds to me more like XP Reinstalled...
Welcome to the new Windows. Same as the old Windows.
You should grep -v " " | sort | uniq
From man uniq:
DESCRIPTION
Discard all but one of successive identical lines from INPUT (or standard input), writing to OUTPUT (or standard output).

It is true. A couple of weeks ago, there was a problem with one of them who didn't want to take part in that.
Let's see if I can do that too. I am following a course on Logic this semester (it gives me pointy ears, urgh)...
;-]
Lessee...

I wonder, will I get modded up or flamed for this? You decide!
But to keep this post on-topic, I posit:
