  1. Insta-cred for me! on HD Video From the Edge of Space, On the Cheap · · Score: 1

I can tell from the canned graphics they edited the video using Pinnacle Studio. Since I also use that for home movies, I am giving myself 5 Insta-cred points (tm). Who ever said a $99 application has no place in space (well space-flavored sky anyway)? Suck it Adobe Premier Pro!

I hope this one day scales up to car size. The cops would be able to tell I was speeding on the freeway, but have no idea where I was. Or they would know exactly where I was, but have no idea if I was speeding. HUP FTW!

    I'll show myself out....

The Washington School Information Processing Cooperative (WSIPC) still serves numerous ESD's and districts that use VMS. Of course, since the (painfully slow) conversions to AIX started 7 years ago, it's now called the 'legacy system'. But that does not mean there are not 100's of users on these systems.

I kid of course, but your concise use of grammar, punctuation, etc indicates that your traditional education was not a total waste as you seem to paint it.

    I rarely post here

If 'rarely' is defined by you as nearly daily and often several times a day, then I guess I agree.

When I do it's most often in articles where I share anecdotes as opposed to jokes.

Again, I do not know what you are calling an 'anecdote', but I have read through all your posts and cannot find a single one. Mostly just you saying something like 'HAHAHA You are teh moron and I love Sony and you are such a loser!!!!'. Can you provide a link to a post you have made proving me wrong here?

    I've been modded down for...

There is no grand conspiracy here. You are not being modded down for speaking out against the consensus. I lot of other people do that are not modded down. It's is only your apparent inability to disagree without being a total jerk that gets you modded down.

Noone wants to have the boat rocked so to speak so the easiest way to deal with that is to silence people like myself

Buddy, you are not being silenced. You are not being oppressed. You are just being a dick.

  14. Re:My turn!!!! on Sam Ramji, Microsoft's Open Source Guru, Is Moving On · · Score: 1

Do you know why you consistently get modded down? It's not for the content of your posts; as there are other people who pose the same or similar opinions who regularly get modded +1. It's because of the combative, insulting, and generally petulant nature of your posts.

There are those who read all of your posts and start down-modding them just because they get tired of reading your misdirected rage. I would recommend that you stop posting on /. (since, as you have so often mentioned, we are all morons anyway), or start articulating your opinions without attacking those that disagree.

    We are not your enemy.

That's a completely valid point. Anecdotal evidence is pretty weak for most things. But I think the point I was trying to make (albeit poorly) is that one who is never forced to face very unpleasant consequences for failure, who is never bullied, or is never taught without thought given to how entertained the student is, is one who is only nominally prepared for the harsh realities of adult life.

If a homeschool student stops trying and simply stops doing their assignments, what happens? Are they held back a grade? And if that lack of effort continues are they prevented from 'graduating'? As an adult I do not work for my loving parents and if I fail at my job there are serious consequences. I just don't see any parent really dropping the hammer on a teenage homeschooled student.

I think those 6 hours, even if the hard academia is lacking at times, are not wasted. At the very least children learn how to keep a schedule, deal with people outside their familiarity zone, and process mundane tasks. It's not very sexy, but these skills are are very large part of even the egalitarian among us. I have personally known homeschooled adults that were completely unprepared to do things like deal with workplace bullies, keeping track of their time for work, or see the value in something that wasn't 'fun' for them.
