Ohhh, some people don't like you to talk like that. Ohh, some people like to shut you up for saying those things. You know that. Lots of people. Lots of groups in this country want to tell you how to talk. Tell you what you can't talk about. Well, sometimes they'll say, well you can talk about something but you can't joke about it.
Say you can't joke about something because it's not funny. Comedians run into that shit all the time.
Like rape. They'll say, "you can't joke about rape. Rape's not funny."
I say, "fuck you, I think it's hilarious. How do you like that?"
I can prove to you that rape is funny. Picture Porky Pig raping Elmer Fudd.
Well... there's *kind* of competition. The last serious competition on a pro-am or professional level for any of those products was QuarkXpress, and Quark kinda screwed themselves during the OS9->OSX transition.
I mean, there's other products in those fields, certainly, but they're distant also-rans for the most part.
My interpretation of the "not worried about Flash" quote was "not worried about whether or not Flash has a future", what he's saying is "we'll move with the times, we'll keep building tools that help people to present their content whether or not that involves flash".
Pretty much. And given that the rest of Adobe's product line is stocked with "Must Have" software for creative folks, he's got some good legs to stand on.
Yeah, but Adobe has tons of other products to market in the "multimedia/creative authoring" marketplace, including several that are the gold standards (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc).
As far as I could tell, the guy was basically saying "Yeah, Flash may not live forever, but we're not dependent on Flash to remain a leader in our marketplace, and we'll likely just put the effort into another authoring product (or funnel it into a Dreamweaver combo product).
"Contractor" in this sense does not necessarily mean "independent contractor". Most "government contractors" are employees of firms and get paid on W-2s like anybody else. The "contract" is government with firm, not government with individual.
QFT. For some reason on IT sites posters seem to equate "contractor" with "someone who works freelance by running their own business."
Most contractors are managed by a contracting firm, and get nowhere near what the firm bills out for their time.
The farmers I talked to in Shandong and Jilin also agreed- they know they're getting shafted in comparison to urban dwellers, but they're still doing better than at any time in history, and would rather not lose their chance at a new fridge, air conditioning, and a TV in return for some abstract ideas about freedom to criticize the government.
While you have some insightful points (and your comment fits well with what I understand about Chinese society via the Chinese friends I hung out a lot with in college), the fallacy lay in the fact that in a year or two, those farmers might be relocated because their entire village/town is being razed for a public works project.
The main issue with the current situation is that the only method of change away from the paradigm the government has chosen *will be* civil strife. It's only a matter of time. And if there's one thing history has taught us about the Chinese, its that when they decide to go all strife-y, they go in whole hog.
Welcome to the Internet, where people fly off the handle in rage at individual incidents that aren't handled perfectly and feelings of entitlement reigns. Particularly on "technology enthusiast" sites.
I just register through Dreamhost and I've never had a problem. I'm sure there's cheaper, and I know there's 1,000,000 Dreamhost haters (though 999,999 of those seem to be people trying to re-sell shared hosting to clients), but in the last 4 years, I've had nary a problem with registrations.
The only real reason at this point to not be on SL is that your hardware doesn't support it (or you've got some odd software that still hasn't been updated for SL). Given that the upgrade to SL is dirt cheap, for those who actually want to game on their Macs, the hurdle is low.
Because you weren't smart enough to copyright or obtain the copyright for the work?
Just because you choose to do all your production as a work-for-hire, doesn't mean everyone else wants to do so.
Yeah, depends on what the AoC laws are like in MA.
Since when did rape become a joke?

Won't stop anti-Nuke whargarblers from protesting about the nuclearization of space. Apparently we're supposed to send diesels up there or something.
Yeah, the problem isn't so much that the USD is too strong, but the RMB is artificially weak in terms of a modern currency.

It's a little more complex than that. Look up the legacy of the Dixiecrats, the history of the Southern Democrats and the "Southern Strategy".
It's also well known that the Communists hold fast to the principle that "wireless network d/l speed shall not increase."
I'm not gonna lie to you Marge, it's the thought that counts.
That's some darn good police work there, Lou.
Please read up on the history of financial markets before regulation before making stupid comments like that.
Maybe in the days of "hey this does indeed look like a chicken egg" you could rely only on caveat emptor. Not so much anymore.

How old are you? If you're under like, 50, you're almost self-destructively conservative.
Interesting to know.

The entry level Mac Pros have GT120's which are... hm, lackluster (I replaced mine with an 4870).
If we let that socialist Obama pass healthcare reform!
Hold on, wait a sec, what forum am I on again? It's Thursday, I'm a little confused.
Next they'll make a law that states people have the right to not be offended on the Internet.
The architect can copyright the design, which can be licensed by the builders.
They don't have copyright on my particular house.
Please learn the difference, then come back.
