heh.. That reminds me of what happened while I was on my vacation last week... (kinda of OT)

Me and my wife were in Hileah FL, and looking for a target (We needed a ground cloth for our tent), so my wife typed in "Target" into the GPS. It took us off the highway, and we left then right then left and before we knew it we were in the Hispanic district, which wasn't a big deal, except all the signs were in Spanish. Well, when it said we were arriving at "Target" we didn't see anything. My thought was that there was another small business with the same name.

Luckily, the GPS got us back to the Highway, and we got down to the Keys without incident, but we never quite trusted the GPS after that. I will say they are still super useful though, but just be wary...

No, this technology actually looks useful. Have you ever seen the real world MPG of a hybrid? Its a huge waste of resources and a concept born out of "environmental" incentives. The average MPG of a Prius is about 40. Guess what the average MPG is of a non-hybrid VW TDI (turbo diesel)? 50. Yep, 50 MPG. That, and you can convert a diesel to run on vegetable oil!

I'm curious. Has anyone ever checked to see what type of number comparison would show if you tested a Prius against, say, a TDI Golf? It would be nice to know, how much more or less crude oil was needed to keep a Pruis going. Actually, let me know if you know of any comparison.

Sorry to be so off topic, but I think this should be something /. should discuss.

Why really, is it illegal to buy a new TDI in California, and the other states that choose to follow California (Maine being one of them....)

If spotting and tracking these things is the issue, I wonder if a SETI@HOME type setup would help. Use the collective resources of thousands of PCs to do the number crunching for a lot less money. I'm sure you could set it up to track all incoming asteroids, and check the trajectory of each to see which ones we should worry about.

I'm curious is this approach has been looked at before...

I'm sorry if I came off trollish, but I smelled an odor of sarcasm where, apparently, there was none.

My faith allows me to give more credence than most to what the Bible says. Hebrews 11:1 defines faith as "The assured expectation of things hoped for, the evident demonstration of realities though not beheld." The "not beheld" part is what a lot of people have a problem with. I get a lot of flack for having that Faith, and was getting defensive, where apparently I didn't need to.

    Please accept my apologies.

I didn't quote that scripture to say the end time was during my lifetime, because I'm willing to admit that it might not be, but your attitude is matched in that scripture quite well. And, eventually, when that time comes, there will be people with that same attitude, but that won't prevent the end from coming.

Armageddon is coming on God's timetable, and no one else's.

As to my belief that I am living in the time of the end, there are multiple prophesies in Revelation and Daniel and Isaiah that point to a time that uniquely matches our own.

As to your "good points"... Inflammatory statements made to elicit a heated response are not good points. Quoting scripture, I find, is a great way to diffuse what could be a heated argument...
