The problem here is the difference between an active combatant and a passive combatant. Imagine a village where your unit has helped build a school, clean the water, and rebuild houses. Now one day as you are cruising through the village a bomb goes off killing your buddies. How many of the so called noncombatants knew the bomb was going to go off, insinuating the locals knew it was set up? The streets are usually clear before the IED's go off. Why wouldn't these people who you helped help you by warning you? Most of the populace of Iraq are just happy to play both sides of the field taking the benefits from both the US and insurgents. So to act like the soldiers are horrible for not trusting the noncombatants is kind of self deceiving don't you think?

So should "" be a crime in this country? Wouldn't this set some kind of precedent such as making it illegal to lie to children? If someone's child finds out there is no Santa Claus and kills themself should the adult be prosecuted as a murderer? Should every work of fiction, books, movies, TV, be labeled as such in case a child believes it to be true and commits suicide when they find out it was fantasy?

As tragic as it is, this child was taken in by a fantasy, and when the illusion was shattered she murdered herself. The responsibility, if on any adult, should be on the parents who failed to educate their daughter on the realities of internet relationships.

Disclaimer: I have owned a Mac in some form since 1993.

The one thing that Apple just doesn't do is a budget minded notebook computer, the kind I like to call "Disposable" notebooks. I had a cheap ($350 brand new) Toshiba Satellite that I had bought from Circuit City that I had managed to run OSX 10.4 Tiger on for over a year. It worked great, did not sound like an airplane taking off, and was amazingly responsive. I think Apple could greatly expand it's market share if they would just put out a budget minded notebook, although I am not claiming to be an market analyst. I tend to replace my notebooks about every other year, so they sure would have me sold.

Although my wife just wouldn't put up with a "fake" Mac and bought a nice new MacBook.
