Certain parts of the world cannot feed themselves today because of their agricultural activities in the past. The Amazon is approaching a crisis state in which it can no longer support itself and it collapses entirely - eliminating the source of some 25% of the planet's oxygen. Sorry, but this is not wright. Amazon is important for a number of factors, but it does not produce any oxygen. As the forest has reached maturity, all oxigen generated is used by the forest itself.
Obviosly, if the forest is gone, all Carbon Dioxide in it will return to the atmosphere.
Its like a dam of carbon.

Other point is that the production of etanol is Brasil is very large, and for decades it has been this way. Our Etanol is not corn based, its sugarcane based. This is much more efficient, and the waste is beggining to be used for more energy also.

BTW, all sugarcane production is made very far from Amazon, in the southeast and northeast of the country. Its absolutely two unrelated issues at stake.
The amazon area would not be aconomic viable for etanol production. no matter what, its not the right bioma for production.

The problem of Amazon deforestation exists, and its much more based on gathering wood and opening pastures. It just has nothing to do with this matter.

If you need more info, a recent article in an american financial online magazine reached this matter:

Actually, here in Brasil we already have it, and you can fill your tank right now. its a tech developed by Petrobras, and it is mixed with Petroleum based diesel. Nowadays the mix is in 2%Bio. In 2008 will increase to 5%. You could unse it pure, and your car would move, but this way the increase in prices are dilluted to everyone. The same thing occurs with Gas here, which has a 30% mixture with sugarcane based Alcohol. There is also a new tech that permits your car to run in Gas/Alcohol in wichever mixture you wish, and you find Alcohol in gas stations. 7. iTunes Overseas on iTunes Sales 'Collapsing' · · Score: 1

I think the rate of music downloads is not a linear curve for each person. One generally downloads a lot of music in the beggining, and just download specific interests as time goes by. As a greater portion of iPods are sold for replacements, they dont generate the same number of downloads as they would before. The solution? Increase the number of countries available to iTunes, or remove the restriction for a credit card issued in an "iTunes available" country. If I could buy at Amazon with my brasilian Credit Card, why cant I buy at iTunes?. Apple should start thinking globally. (geesh, this is soo 90s) www.donttalkaboutlife.blogspot.com

From the advertiser point of view, Google is a monopoly. As they have most of web searches, if you need to advertise on web searches, you have no choice but to buy from them. And yes, they could charge more for it. Thats obviously not a big problem, unless Google starts using this leverage.

  10. Re:Nothing inconvenient about the results on An Inconvenient Truth · · Score: 1

Im really sorry, but your post dont deserve his +5 insightful. There are a lot of ways of reducing emitions and improving employment at the same time. For example, consider one of the most basic carbon emission: Your car. If the US could significantly reduce emmissions from your engines, you could recover international sales to countries that cant accept emissions that high (believe it or not, it includes a good share of the rest of the world). That way maybe GM and Ford could be not as crippled as they are, and Toyota, Honda and VW might lose a little share over those markets. Also, all those Carbon sequestration plants - Like Biofuel, or biomass transformation facilities, or vegetable coal for example (all that here in Brasil are starting to generate a lot of money) - requires people for work. I really love google products, and I am a Google zealot, and privacy is really important, but the way orkut looks like, its like the place for criminals to get together an plan things up.
