Google can (and probably is) datamining to find what users actually choose to watch, which I'm sure Viacom wants to get their hands on.
I'm always wondering if companies and government officials are doing this when they actually request this type of info during these types of cases. There is so much money to be made on this data. What happens to this information after the case is done? Does Viacom just destroy it, or do they send it to marketing?
But what does a PI license have to do with computer repair? If a computer repair person showed me they had a private investigators license I would say "Well, will that help with my computer issue? Or will you turn me in for illegal software?"
how would this work for gaming online? 16 different IP destinations and I play for hours on in. My understanding of Xbox Live is that it is P2P and if they throttle my Halo 3 game, I'm gonna get pwned even more than normal.
wouldn't a better car analogy be that drivers with certain cargo are being forced to drive slower than people who have the "acceptable" cargo load.
That 6 mbit or 10 mbit pipe isn't designed to be used at full capacity 24/7 by each subscriber, it's designed to be a shared service between multiple people, splitting the cost of the full 6 mbit or 10 mbit pipe between them.
This isn't a bad idea. Why not fill your drives with gigs of useless stuff? Maybe even fill it with tons of word documents that may trigger keywords, but actually contain nothing useful. If the government wants to waste it's citizens time, shouldn't the citizens have the same right.
Are there bad boy dogs and cats walking around getting laid all the time? What about those bad ass dolphins that where the leather coats and carry a switchblade?
. . . on more important illegal online activities, like child porn? Do the ISP's in France also monitor those types of activities? It seems that would be on the top of the list with terrorism. I see piracy maybe in the top 20 and spam in the top 10.
If a user finds a site that has child porn on it, it's most likely the user is there on purpose. So I doubt that user is going to click the "inappropriate" button. It's not like Stumble took them there.
Also how will someone DDos attack a site using this method?
Once the tool is ready how will Google get it to the masses? I'm talking about your average Joe Internet user. Let's face it,/. users will probably have this along with other nerd/geek/informed Internet surfers, but will that be enough noise to stop broadband corporations from throttling? Broadband companies will only care when average Joe starts complaining that he's paying for a service that isn't completely there.
Maybe its true. Maybe they hired the CIA to spy on those two Congressman to make sure they weren't going to do anything to embarrass the Chinese Government during the Olympics.
The only real fight against it is to educate everyone about it. The only reason spam is so successful is because grandma still clicks on the ads. So with a recorded message hopefully it will be easier for grandma to just hear the message and hang up. No need to reply or show the spitter that there is interest and hopefully the people paying the spitters will see that it's a waste of money. *crosses fingers*
The point is that people have to be smart enough to do a bit of research and think a little bit for themselves. This is true, but lets face it advertisements work because people are easy to influence and if people were smart we wouldn't need seat belt laws.
Call me selfish, but I'm not going to be the guy out there in the lightweight car. I'm not going to risk the life of my daughter "for the greater good". Sorry, but that's human nature. I wouldn't call you selfish, but I would say you do have a false sense of security. People die in all types of cars.
Fuel mileage standards are definitely a better solution. Why can't we make a better engine? Have we hit the ceiling on this tech?
I wouldn't say that all SUV drivers are aggressive, but there is a trend of people with nicer cars driving more aggressive than people with modest cars. Which you think it would be the reverse since no one wants to destroy a nice car.
I thought the free market was where the customers dictated which direction the market should go. Apple should see this as a problem with their partnership and not a problem with their customers.

How do you think your alternate reality self feels? Now he's stuck with the "Hungry Bitches" DVD you ordered.

I would love to see that as a comcast commercial.
what happens when the critical thinking leads back to evolution or global warming? Do they remove the "thinking" aspect of it?

I don't think I have any data that would be worth lubing up and sticking up my ass. I'd just prefer to mail it to my destination.
So do you think Atari has a copy of E.T the Extra-Terrestrial game in some vault? Besides the "vault" in the desert.
What if they equipped the blades with some solar powered panels? Get a little extra juice.

we should start with the web browser. While useful to access business sites it is also abused to look at /. and reply to articles.
How do you key someones car with that fabric on it? You'll have to knife it instead.
I don't watch the weather channel anymore because it's too left-wing.

I thought the RIAA was only going after those who are seeding and not those leeching.
Good because I'm downloading movies and software, so I should be good to go.
