I did some looking around on Google and found this paper, which briefly covers the subject by suggesting a "security mesh" to prevent unauthorized access to wlans. Anyone with some insight in how [cost] effective this may be, or if there are any other solutions out there?
Blah, legislation should be spent on opening up cable internet access to other competitors like DSL rather than allowing them to retain their heavy monopoly.
In case anyone likes to follow the results this late at night.. it appears that the GOP is now in the majorityof the House and Senate. And CNN provides overall statistics for the exact numbers between the two major parties. I also find it interesting that as of right now (3:11am est), MSNBC isn't ready to assume that the GOP has control of the Senate and the House. But everyone knows CNN leans towards the right anyways.
Indeed, I wrote a letter (ready to be sent out tomorrow) to the USA Today giving them some basic facts and why it should interest them. You may be thinking, why them? Publicity causes public opinion. Public opinion is bound to be formed pretty quickly when they see a heartless corporation (that survives by suing) suing a great (from what my friend told me) local chocolate shop in the mall. In this case, I think publicity will help their case a lot.
Wow.. this article really came out of nowhere considering I was heading out there tomorrow to pick up a nice box for my girlfriend. Anyways, to be on topic, I'll try to come up with a question for them tomorrow about it since I'll be visiting. Perhaps I can get some better insight into their plans of developing the group defense.
Unfortunately, they have a cable monopoly for the entire city and surrounding areas. Maybe this is why the Blade is reporting this again because they both have the same parent company/family?
Apparently this is the second time my city (Toledo) has used the FBI for this. Anyways, I'm pretty sure the Blade always has extensive coverage of this because the same family owns the Blade and the local cable company (which has a cable monopoly in Toleod and its surrounding areas).
Well, this article that I found here that discusses the limitations of Klez on WINE and how Sircam was able to run on WINE. All in all, it appears to be a limited threat.
Peacock Maps makes some good maps such as this one. I first found out about it at ThinkGeek and later bought two for one at home and ine my dorm. Too bad they don't have a 2002 poster yet.
Oh don't worry, I'm sure the shuttle you'll ride on your way up there will have Britney Spears and Pepsi plastered all over it. Think about it.. who would watch a shuttle launch to the Moon? Everyone. Who watched it in 1969? Everyone. How much could NASA get from advertisers?
Hmm.. so if I publish a page (or even this very Slashdot article) about the Wayback machine not archiving Xenu, would that page (or this article) get put into the Wayback machine? Seems like the press (esp. from CNN) might get archived and defeat the original purpose of suppressing Xenu.
Do you really think that when they (the gov't) shut down a child porn site that they just tell the web host to terminate the accoutn and they persue it no further? Obviously, they go after the person. Child pornography isn't illegal because it's offensive (that's part of the reason). It's mostly because of the exploitation of children. I seriously doubt any six year old would voluntarily pose nude without being coerced into it. When that kid becomes 18, then he or she can decide that. Until then, the law is there to protect kids, not "limit speech".
The real translation would be.. "our version doesn't have a talking paper clip that wastes your time, so let's compete on real functions that real people use"
The picture frame that the Discovery Channel Store sells, made by Ceiva, that is found here, charges a monthly fee plus initial purchase price. Imagine having a few of these frames for a few years.. adds up quick.
I've already heard of several companies mass-implementing the EBP Lites. I'm getting one next month to keep some of my S/Keys around with me all of the time.

Yes, increasing premium penetration would mean that you're getting screwed. Actually, this sounds more like a condom company slogan.

Mod this up, this is good news, also this is one of the few benefits /.ing can have on a business ;)

If you think trolls are bad now.. don't forget to take away the 30 mod points!

Oh yay, make it eve neasier for ISPs to have their own "customized" web browser. On second thought.. this would promote Mozilla. That's good, right?

Well.. if Russia makes going into outer space a favorite vacation trip.. why not make the moon a favorite vacation spot?
The real point is that if everyone's deleting spam marked as ADV, then it becomes unprofitable. Guess what happens next? No spam.

You can get an English translation here. Sorry, Babelfish doesn't have Swedish yet ;)

So if this car got into an accident.. would that be a Denial of Service attack?

Is there anyone that actually has XM and doesn't like it? So far I've seen two people who have it and like it.
