  1. What do you see as a security flaw? on Ask Microsoft's Security VP · · Score: 1

In my honest opinion, I find that what you classify as a security flaw and what you don't are quite flawed. It would interest me greatly to find out what you DO classify as neccesary checking criteria over what you call a flaw and what you don't, for instance that security.tombom thing wasn't actually classified as a security hole, so I think it begs the question of what is essentially classified as a security leak. There are two arguments for this problem, the first being that people should enjoy life while they are dying and not get tested on and have as long a life as possible. The second argument is that they SHOULD be treated and use whatevers possible that may work to help treat the problem.

I find myself falling on both sides of the fence, as if it goes horribly wrong, unspeakable things could happen with usage of stem cells. But I also think that if it has the potential to save people's lives, and minimize suffering and help people in general, it should be used.

What is so good about Firefox? I mean, really. It isn't THAT good a browser, yeah ok so it's open source and it has tabs and a good few modern browsing technologies.

Opera is imo, by far the best browser on the whole browser market. It has everything, and it's much lighter than firefox, it's so damn fast as well. I think Opera should have been bundled with Dell computers instead, and also Google might be buying Opera soon, that would make Opera THE premium browser! Come on Opera is the best. You don't even have to pay to use it without adverts anymore!

I gotta agree, I had an IBM Death star two, in fact I've had the bad luck of ownning TWO IBM's which both had major bad blocks.

Fortunately, one of them is now simply storage , the other one however, died, it just stopped working entirely.

In my experience seagate drives aren't too shabby, I think a move like this one will further integrate the good hard disk technologies the companies own.

The NCQ (native command queing) and possibly the serial ATA standard (now on 2.0, at 3Ghz) could very well benifit from having the integration of two major players in the hard disk industry.

Ah a good way of measuring a hard disk eh? Well there are several things to consider: price per gigabyte spindle speed (5400 RPM, 7200 RPM etc.. the new 10,000 RPM speed seems the best at the moment) throughput/bus types (ATA, Scsi, serial ATA etc... serial ata 2 is currently the best, at a throughput of 3 gigabytes) disk technologies such as NCQ, SMART(self monitoring and repoting technology) routines and analysis, error correction etc... compatibility with your computer/reliance on the manafactuer

I personally take all these things into consideration when purchasing a new hard disk.

There's even apparently a cure for AIDS somewhere in africa (as my actually rather great science teacher from eighth grade told me), and it's supposed to be safeguarded by companies who are dictating the price slowly but surely.

Big companies like to get their greasy hands on it "before" anyone else knows about it, then claim it as their own. In the end of the day, this Indian testing thing is wrong, I think they should breed special purpose lab rats (not humans) that they can test things on... if they want a human, why don't they make a complex IT based thing that reflects a digitized human body? I think in this day and age, that would be an unltimately difficult, but worthy of attention and money project.

I agree, the thing is that if you factor in good buisness practices that actually work better all round for the customers and buisness. For instance if I was a Red hat customer and they chose to disgard me before I made any real money, then I went to another company who were more endearing and offered better customer support, who would be losing out? Red hat.

And as for changing over to the SuSe core, I would say Novell made a good choice, I like the direction Novell is going in, they are doing well.

Yeah exactly, and also the fact was that it helped people as well. I mean, honestly who want's to spend hours looking for some lyrics just for one song?

The meaning of these nice little programs is to help people be more creative and to work pro-actively with them to do that.

Other programs such as mplayer (http://www.mplayerhq.hu/homepage/design7/news.htm l) let you watch loads of movies with lots of codecs and such, if ANYTHING this program would hinder the music industry more so than pearlyrics, my guess is that it's because pearlyrics was made primarily for Mac OS X (therefore was taken more notice of as Mac OS X is more popular than the primarily linux based mplayer), and that it simply looked for musical lyrics, are some of the reasons why it got taken notice of more, and therefore censored. It's unfair, and I think that these programs should, if anything, be helped by music industry heavyweights to do more things and increase their functionality!

Well at least the company apologised, I just wish they'd seen sense in the first place, before it was too late :).
