Alright after skimming through tfa I realized he has no actual comments on the look of the consoles, mostly because with the exception of minor differences tey all follow the same theme a box that looks like a computer tower, and a glowing element, his comments against sony are more to a degree just a shameless spamevertisment for his beloved nintendo. And you wonder why nintendo fans get a bad rap as rabid fanboys...
I personally think that Star Trek First Contact was the only movie in the next gen series that deserves any respect, 7 blew up the enteprise D with a bop? yeah real understandable there...
heh sorry about that last line, I can't spell today:P
but no I agree they have royally well messed up, but there are things that aren't explored atleast in somewhat recent time. somewhere between the middle of the dominion war and after the death of the scimitar there has got to be room for a few more stories, all I know is that unless Berman and Bragga stop what they are doing now they will drive this last effort right into the ground, and I don't know about you but there is nothing worse than millions of upset star trek fans
I mean seriosly, this was not the direction that the next movie even needed to go, what part of abysmall failure did they not pick up from the enterprise series, unlike star wars, Star Trek doesn't make money when going backwardcs, what ever happened to the idea of oh I don't know a ship that not only made sence, but something with emotion, how about a story about an akira class starship with an unkown crew in the dominon war? how about a series about the aftermath of the enterprise/romulan encoutner, something to shed some light on the worst cliff hanger ever, something to pick up what has so clearly been left off. Star trek doesn't need to go backwards, they need to do what they have always been good at, movies for action, and series for science and ethics they keep to that motto and they will get somewhere, they also need to stop playing with the timeline that is established as cannon, and just add on to it rather than confuse it
I guess as opposed to not fixing a clear flaw in their hardware's pretty coating. I mean it would be a PR disaster if they ignored the problem woulnd't it?
Because unlike ourselves we don't count as several Joe Sixpacks, how do you determine the popularity of an object? by how many people owned or own it. Alot of Joe Sixpacks bought the PS2 and Xbox, and even some of "us" did, but Joe Sixpack didn't buy that many gamecubes, and if he did, he was either young or bought it after the other systems. Granted Nintendo made money, but who sold the most? that is what it comes down to. Who had the most development.
Sony and M$ didn't make money off the console the flood of games made for the consoles did that. infact that is one key sign of console success or usage is how many game compaines are willing to invest time and money to put a game on a console. You have to be willing to ask yourself who has the most titles made for their console, and how many of those were bought?
Its like me saying that Linux is more popular then windows becuase it is better. Well it may be better (in most repects) but that doesn't make it more popular, and the more popular your item the more money 3rd party extensions of that product are going to make for you.
agreed their are more categories out there than just those two, but in retrospect those were the major games of the platform, where as its competion hails the mature games as their primary titles. Its not to say their are no mature games, or that none were good, it is just here were no major mature games (excluding RE4) that made it up there as flagship titles.
I guess what we really need to ask is what makes a better gaming system mature titles or the cute and fluffy (the current flagship titles for the current gen systems fall into this category) or what in the eyes of Joe Sixback will get him to buy the console, I mean how many people do we know that bought the xbox purely because of Halo?
Well in comparison with the lineup on the market, if you got into Joe Sixpacks house what do they have? everyone I know around here is toting an Xbox or PS2. I am not saying they didn't sell any, but no thanks to games like GTA and Halo, the other two systems had a majority of the market as the first systems bought, I know I bought a PS2, I know all my friends bought a PS2, and I know most of those around me bought either a PS2 or an Xbox. for purely superficial reasons I am sure. Now I know a few people who picked up the Gamecube as a second system much later on. The Xbox was released after the gamecube and still seemed to do better on the market becuase of halo and xbox live. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gamecubehttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox
It's not that I haven't played the system, but with the exception of Resident evil, the game selection for a more mature gamer was limited, and I love cute and fluffy games just like the rest of the game players out there, they provide a source of amusement, but I don't want my console limited to that, PS/2 and Xbox had a semi decent mix (although truthfully it was more geared to mature gaming) but there seemed to be so few "mature" games on the gamecube that it didnt' have nearly the market, having played one, there were certain things I did like, but their were others that its competion clearly did better in.
Don't get me wrong, I would use Linux at the drop of a hat for a server, but when it comes to graphic design, right now the Gimp is good, but it is no photoshop, and yes I am glad that there is an extension for a photoshopish gimp. But as far as I am concerned, the GIMP is outpreformed right now. Just like in the field of office, there are no third party developers for OO or not near as many as for Microsoft Office, just look how many macros get thrown onto to MS word, not that they are all a good thing, but that shows that there are developers out there. Linux and OSS is good, for what it is used primarly, but when in competition with products like Photoshop and Microsoft office it still does not have a competing product, and simplicity is not working for Linux, Joe Sixpack just wants to click next to get that new game working, not virtulize a windows enviroment and then do it
I was under the impression that in the/. community atleast that the Wii was seen as the ultimate machine this time round. I never got the impression that they were focusing on anythign but Nintendo. infact I have yet to hear anything other than expensive and pretty graphics coming from the PS3 department in a long while.
Look I am as glad as the next person that Nintendo has stepped up their game for this time round in the console wars, but seriously, I get the impression that is all the gaming communities are focusing on. I mean have we honestly heard good PR about the PS3? If you have feel free to let me in, but from a general news surfer sence, and most of all on Slashdot what do you hear? to expensive.
I am not going to say I don't like Sony thier consoles have impressed me before, and the price has had me a little weary, but why are we so eager to ignore the PS3 as a competitor, I mean we look at the wii, and the 360 and we know both are cheaper than the ps3. But seriously... there has to be some redeeming quality to the PS3.
Go Nintendo and all, glad you aren't going to make another one of the abysmall failures the gamecube... but I could swear I have heard enough wii praise
Yes, but with Opera you wouldn't have this problem would you?
(responce from firefox user)
No, because opera doesn't have extensions > widgets != extensions
(responce from IE user)
what is opera?
All rather bad, but there have been bad little extensions out there for a while haven't there?
The same odds a criminal would sue the bank he just robbed for fake 20's sorry, but if you have someone stealing wireless they have nothing to complain about
Wow gotta hand it to the article for really looking like an actuall Wiki entry, but seriosly
I am glad that wikimania is so happy to be celebrating an annviersry of some kind but is this really news (this is the second anniversiry/holiday announcement of the day) If I cared that much about wiki I would have had it on my calendar
Yes, but not all dells explodes (or more so 1 exploded) there are reports flooding in about issues with the macbook, we know it was manufactured poorly, we know it was rushed into production, the thing I don't understand is why people are suprised that apple made a mistake in shipping.
Yes but when the concept of the channel is to talk about video games, and you spend 3 hours on cars and cop shows, it can be to say the least annoying, this channel has seriously forgotten its roots, Attack of the show (or whaterver it is) is now more adds than anything, and the sexual inuendos get old at a point, X-play is probably the only thing left watching on there (and thats saying something) because it doesn't care about the network it is sitting on. It is no longer about tech, games, just adverts, and how much money they can suck from their ratings. I love a good looking girl as much as anyone else, but when she is an airhead I tend to ignore her and it becomes a waste of my time
Like this guy is just upset that his game hasn't got the stuff, and in one last final grab at attention he tired to get it on Slashdot, because before this, I had never heard of the game (probably because it doesn't have a big enough fan base to really get it mentioned alot, atleast not in the corners of the internet where I lurk. Seriosly though, he needs to figure out that an RPG unless really innovative these days isn't going to attract attention because they have been done over and over again.
Infact the last innovative RPG I remember was themed after an MMO infact (and I would love to see more on similar theory. Players want more freedom (something the MMO introduced, another player to a traditionally single player world) and now the RPG makers are going to have to catch up, they have to introduce a human like AI, that can give the element that for so long they have been lacking (and Yes I know there are multiplayer RPG's out there)
Yes but it doesn't work like that in the cooperate world, they get a new feature to play with, and they play with it, and you better have the equivilant software to read it or else you won't be seeing what you were sent. It is because if one company buys it, in order to read what that company sends, all the companies out there have to buy it, because that first company is going to being to send out its documents with all kinds of fancy features
Well, thats the thing, Open Office is going to have to stop trying to different in any way from MS. their core functionality should be the entirety of the MS office suite functionality, if they truely want to be recognized it should not only be as good, but it should be better, it should match an MS office product toe for toe and then some, by programming in known issues and conflicts they only strengthen microsoft.

Developer's PS3's all catching on fire, sony claims lack of fans...
or possibly that they used the borg over and over again to try and lure in action fans?
heh sorry about that last line, I can't spell today :P

just my thoughts
I guess as opposed to not fixing a clear flaw in their hardware's pretty coating. I mean it would be a PR disaster if they ignored the problem woulnd't it?
and then after that a slashback with all three.
