    You've got a point. Gnome and KDE follow totally different philosophies, and I think that is more of a hinderance than a help when it comes to merging.

    Gnome follows the less-is-more philosophy, while KDE follows the More is More philosophy

    You could always put SIT (Standard Interrupt Tones) as the first thing on your voicemail. Any kind of decent predictive dialer will register you as not-in-service.

    I agree with you that Ubuntu is more than a distro, it is more of a community.

    If Debian fell apart, Ubuntu would have to pick up the development side of all the debian packages it relies on.

    Earthlink's support has deteriorated drastically in the past couple of years, to the point where they're just another pool of shaved apes with email and phone connectivity. It would be a waste of time telling them anything.

    What seems most "wrong" here is that Microsoft, of all people, put out a Release Candidate. I thought their methodology was to post real verions and wait for the bug reports?
