Actually, in the UK I believe it's illegal to carry a blade over 3 inches with swings out of the handle. However someone with a valid excuse (like a kitchen knife salesman) would be able to bypass that.

Zune DRM Cracked

I believe the songs shared by Wi-Fi arn't DRM encumbered at all. It's a hardware device inside of the Zune that determines when you should stop listening, not a software layer.
No matter how sympathetic I am to Microsoft and no matter how much I like Vista. This should be illegal and it is most certainly wrong. Lets hope that NY state officials have the sense to stick with open source software.
And there was me thinking consensus and discussion within the scientific community was an essential part in the making of a theory. Scientists shouldn't be held accountable if some politician takes his theory and messes it up for his own political gain, is the author suggesting that we tone down radical ideas as to not scare the unthinking masses or upset the people in charge of our grants?
I'm not so sure. Before I actually went and brought some high quality headphones I was fine listening to 128kpbs MP3 files. Now my ears suffer from that and Ogg/FLAC is the best way I can go without constantly thinking about the bad sound.
I can see you've never used MCE before. I'm both a Windows and Linux enthusiast, but because of the Tv situation (and my X-Fi) I'm not using Gentoo (my preferred distro).
So, with MS you get DRM? Let me check. A Doctor Who episode recorded just the other week, hmm, no DRM. But what I do get is a crystal clear no hassle PAL quality picture. Far better than what I could get off so called spyware and DRM free torrents.
Ahh, yes, the spyware. I'd love to hear some examples of this, because the worst MS does is grab TV listings from the internet automatically, which MythTV and every God damn PVR does.
Fewer formats? Right, ever heard of ffdshow? Media Center uses Directshow filters, meaning pretty much every codec on Earth is supported. Just before reading Slashdot I was watching an XVid encoded episode of Bullshit! in WMC.
Also, you can't copy the software, that'd be against the EULA. But you're damn wrong about the content, I usually burn to disk or upload to certain questionable sites (once) some Tv that I recorded using WMC. And you can modify the WMC software if you want, just don't expect to get the source.
I don't think Microsoft shows any preference for Intel, after all their NT architecture was designed to support numerous platforms, simply, IBM had a preference for Intel and Microsoft followed.
It's hard for me to be too impressed, witha specialised chip you can do almost anything, this isn't different from the claims from a small company that they can make chips run at 10GHz, oh, but it's not x86.
Build an x86 prototype one and I'll worship at the alter of Intel for years to come.
Sorry, but catch up? The smartphones currently out there do way more than an iPhone does. It's too expensive for the casual user and no business would use it. The whole phone is basically an expensive gimmick only the brute hardcore Apple fans would buy.
Now I don't pretent to understand this stuff but if there was a comet large enough to wipe out a people then surely we'd see a reduction in population across the globe due to dust blocking out the sun and such. We'd also be able to see it in the ground, whether it's less plant material or rocks/fossils.
Now this may just be me but I remember a few years ago Intel sold off huge amounts of it's communcations divisions because they wern't very profitable.
I bet they're worth a hell of a lot more now, nice move Intel.

Soon? Didn't you get the memo?

I believe I saw the exact same thing rather a long time ago (Probably on a programme like 'What the Greeks Did For Us'). This is not news.
You mean heatpipes?
Brrr! It's getting chilly in Hell nowadays.
Three, are you crazy? At least tens of dozens.

That isn't a valid complaint, the application could just as easily switch off the damn service itself.
Yes, however it is extremely difficult to prove you cannot watch broadcast TV short of ripping out the reciever.
It's mandatory if you have a tv capable of revieving transmitted data or anything that allows you to recieve television transmissions.
Damn straight, I pay the license fee, so the damn content should be available to me for free.

Gasp! This doesn't work in Linux either!
Low power dissipation and a small form factor (process) is directly linked with power per pound (dollar).
So we can expect the Vista native WPF version very soon eh?

So they can get more advertising money.

Are you crazy? No-one on /. RTFA.
