Have you ever used the language?! My experiences with it are mainly positive. C# already has several advantages over Java and this looks like a cool addition. I hope Mono will be quick on picking up this new spec.
Well thankfully climate change is slowly changing our foggy little country into something with a near-medditeranean climate. Last summer was record-breaking (although it's pretty fucking chilly right now).
'Heersers op Zonne-energie' would be a good translation. 'Persoonlijk verwelkom ik onze nieuwe Heersers op Zonne-energie' probably is the complete sentence you're looking for:)
Most desktop end-users won't care but there are a lot of companies that simply won't accept this... Maybe they will be able to pull it off for some hardware but larger will still require hardware with a BIOS capable of running a real OS. And if there's demand, there will be supply.
Don't fight fire with fire. This simply is a misleading business practice, which does not only hurt Lindows' credibility, but potentially also can have a negative impact of the entire Open Source movement.
...which would lead me to believe that the actual release will be about 12 weeks after that, which is about February 26th...which would lead me to believe that...
I really don't see why this hasn't been done earlier and why it's considered such an event. I guess the theme took about 3 minutes to complete, and then I assume - given the color scheme - a blind guy was doing the work.
If vibration is used to gain energy from it, the vibration will be damped accordingly following the law of conservation of energy. A phone charging when it vibrates is therefore pointless. Nevertheless this invention could have a host of useful appliances.
I strongly recommend that as a compensatory measure, non-AOL MTAs be configured to deny all incoming mail from AOL's domain."
I think this is an excellent example of fighting fire with fire and why it's a Bad Idea (TM). Retaliating a breach of RFC with another breach of RFV with just as much collateral damage will only aggravate the problem.
I strongly oppose this action by AOL. But I don't think such 'compensatory measures' will help the situation.
you can't extrapolate the success of Apache to the desktop market. Webservers have no problems with incompatibility and user-friendliness is less of a concern since the users usually are computer technicians.
The desktop market is a whole different ballgame; Microsoft software is abundant and currently the only competitor in terms of ease of use is Apple and not the Open Source movement.
One of the reasons for this is that in these games the level geometry usually is BSP data, while characters are represented by meshes. Newer engines like the latest Unreal build use BSP less heavily for world geometry, which will partially prevent this problem. Fact of the matter is, if someone can modify the client there still is an awful lot he can do. The only way to minimize potential damage is to send only the data really needed to the client.
It's always easy to bash Microsoft on slashdot but I have to say that the X-box is a pretty decent product. Technologically it beats the crap out of the PS2 although the game line-up could be better. But it's improving.
XOL provides a lot of people with an easy way to play games without the annoyances of cheaters/abuse. I'm not a fan of Microsoft but they're doing pretty well with de X-Box.
American technology prevailed once more when an F-16 beat the crap out of a supermarine Spitfire.
More to come...
Thank you! I was about to say it... he must be one of the guys owning Linus Torvalds action figures.
How they measure 'file deletions' consumers' PCs... Spyware?!

How many libraries of congress do these clouds weigh?!

Whatever.
Certainly, and we do so all the time. But in the rare instances we want to actually communicate with, say, Nebraska we might e-mail them.
In Holland we've had free dial-up ISPs for several years. They earn their money because of contracts of KPN, the main dutch telephone provider.
...Independent candidate l33th4x0r!
With endless reruns on Discovery.

The fix is extremely simple, I suppose so it would be pretty horrific if it took them longer than one and a half hour!

The third time it's downright annoying.
And are slashdot's evil bits currently set? slashdot behaves like it's being slashdotted itself.

In holland this has been common practice for years, although it might take up to three weeks depending on your service provider.

The PS2 Linux dev-kit is pretty sweet though
X-Box online is a Major selling point for the X-Box right now. I'm surprised Sony didn't come up with anything similar earlier.
