Best class I've ever taken. I took A last year, it wasn't very useful. Theory-based, all console Java (which is a marvelous language to learn as your first real language - VB doesn't count).
This class is ridiculous. Hash tables/maps, binary search trees/maps, heapsort, quicksort, Big-Oh, linked lists (and doubly-linked lists), stacks and queues
That's only in the AB class. Without this class, it is impossible to learn these concepts in a normal high school. That's the real thing - an APCS AB 5 actually means you understand important concepts in programing (no linked lists??) and an A class lets you get your feet wet.
I'd love to see their reasoning. This is the only computer course I've been challenged in (still working on removing an entry from a binary search tree - it's more complicated than it works) and it should be kept. We're far enough behind in technology without a decent standardized CS program in high-school.
And elderly are most likely to call for BS-reasons (by which I mean non-medical, like loneliness). I'd be surprised, honestly, to find a correlation between secretive people and response time, as GGP alleges. But EMT's like to joke.
Where are you affiliated? NJEMT-B here, north-east and within sight of Manhatten
I've bought several Dell's in the past, and been happy with the driver support and things
My latest purchase is about a year-old Inspiron E1705 with a GeForce 7900GS, C2D, 2GB RAM.
Every Single pre-selected system I've ever seen of theirs doesn't work for me. I have strange needs - I don't need a 600GB hard-drive, that's what my GigE is for. I don't need a whopping-huge screen because I need a faster processor. I don't need 3GB ram installed because I need a faster processor.
Basically, I order a system built for what I need it for. I don't want to (and haven't had to) pay for things I don't use. If they change that, I guess I'll need to go HP... anybody else have suggestions?
Congratulations, you're a teacher. But the facts that you're giving as notes are - by virtue of them being notes - facts. I can't infringe upon 'mv^2' or 'm*a'
Now if this was about his analysis of the facts, he might (but probably doesn't) have a case.
A teacher does more than 'robotically enunciate mere facts' - they help you understand the 'why' of facts and how they're useful. Why the net force of a constant-velocity object is 0 (but I'm pushing it!). Why the Russians acted the way they did in the 1940's. Why Shakespeare uses a certain word over another (his intended nuance). Why e^(i*pi)=-1.
Lectures don't have much of that. That's why you study, do the assigned problems, and talk to the prof.
That's management on a personal (interactive, relationship between two people) level. As in 'please don't swear, it bothers me'. If they don't stop, they're either a prick or they can't control themselves.
Not on a societal level. On a societal level, people should be able to do what they like. If that involves swearing on broadcast TV, so be it. You should have the right to not partake in something you don't agree with, as well. If too many people stop watching a show because of obscenity, guess what will happen...
Yes, it's a sign of a poor vocabulary - we all know the person who's every other word choice is the F-bomb.
On the other hand, who gives a shit? It's a marvelous emphasizer, and can convey emotions better (and faster and more accurately) than a lot of other words.
'This is fucking stupid. Why aren't they regulating violence so severely? I'm one assload more concerned about a shooting on TV than I am about some five-year-old hearing the S-word or the F-word.'
They'd both be rated the same anyways... if the rating isn't preventing kids from hearing/seeing it, what's the point? Just allow both on higher-rated shows and leave it up to parents to enforce the ratings. They mandated V-chips for exactly(!) this reason.
Hah. Go buy a converter box - the guhmint's giving it to you.
Seriously though, this is the best state of broadcast in my lifetime (I'm 16) and I've lived within 20 miles of NYC that whole time. Finally, TV comes in clearly and doesn't have snow in the picture. Say what you want about the conversion, I'm all for it. And, there are about thirty broadcast channels anyways - each network has a couple.
It's simple. Keep a TV out of their rooms, and be in earshot of what they're doing. If you can't be, they don't get the TV. Or you could just trust your kids to not go batshit insane over hearing a curse word - I learned a long time ago that they're just words anyways.
That's what parenting is. If TV is that much of a problem, put it in your room and let them watch it with you when it's allowed.
DISCLAIMER - the 'you' is not necessarily at parent, but a more general 'one'
Fair enough. It does happen - a mold is a foreign substance
An anyphalactic reaction, in any circumstance, is a real allergy. I was talking more like stomach discomfort...
That's not how warrants work. At least, I'm moving to Canada if that's how they currently work, because they sure as hell didn't work that way before.
If the police suspected you of, say, building explosives (large shipments of fertilizer, etc) - they'd get a warrant for searching for explosives. Now, they come in and look in your closet and find 40 kilos of marijuana. They can't do anything - that's not why they got the warrant. But you can sure bet that they'll be looking for a warrant to search your house for drugs or drug traces. So they come back the next day, and all traces are gone (unlikely by the way).... they're sunk. They can't act on evidence (and can't collect evidence, like take your pot) that they get without the proper warrant. Now, the prosecutor will probably try, but a good DA will have a real big problem with that. The purpose of this is to prevent the cops from getting an easier-to-obtain warrant with easier-to-obtain probable cause, and looking around for what they can find to pin on you...
If that's not how it works anymore, I'm leaving. Of course, IANAL - but this was explained to me by one.
slightly OT, but very small numbers of people are actually allergic to Penicillin. Around 20-30 years ago doctors thought that if you had some kind of reaction going on the medication, you were allergic to it. However, the kinds of illnesses treated with penicillin tend to 'put up a fight', as it were and cause a reaction as they are treated. Not to mention that most of these people had an adverse reaction ONCE, when they were 4 or something... Most 'allergic' people have no reaction to penicillin alone.
See title. They'll do what they do every time the courts demand that they comply: nothing.
This administration needs a slap in the face with a nail-filled board. I don't see these courts doing that any time soon... although I'm sure that "they really mean it this time, you have to give it to us!" Unfortunately, that'd be compromising "national security". Must say I'm not sure how rigging an election qualifies as national security, but since I don't quantifiable know what's in those emails, I'll just take your word Georgie.
Sigh. If this is the price, I'd rather watch out for myself - it's cheaper that way.

Fact is, that's correct - even to an incorrect law. They never specified what their use was. I could burn 5,000 CD's and make a (uncomfortable) suit out of them; it'd still be legal (for now, and assuming it covered some...important... areas)

I'm not so sure. GP has a point - I'd love to see Apple as a litigious bastard too, but check the link he posted...

Wowie. The government has overstated nearly EVERYthing's 'link' to terrorism (think liquids on planes)
:(
I hate it when Microsoft makes things its bitch. And I liked the ISO, too...

ok, thanks
I've been expecting a 3G iPhone with their next release
Quite honestly, it's the singular thing keeping me from getting one. I live in a HSDPA area with decent but not total WiFi...
Did they NOT announce it, or am I missing something?
And you win in spelling.
Worst title I've seen in years... I'll let other people make the jokes
Except this one: Perhaps they should have named it 'Erris'
My God men! Think about what you're doing!! By measuring so much, you'll kill us ALL!!!!!
'Nuff said. Just go somewhere high and aim well, then jump off the tower (or whatever, it really doesn't matter - cliffs work fine) and you're good.
On a clear day, you can get to Asia like this. Then it's just a matter of endurance to get anywhere else.
Just remember to bring your own cake.
all funny aside, this is a real idea, and AFAIK in progress as a real thing. the idea is essentially to replace ntvdm
