    I could be wrong, but I believe his attempts were in addition to, not in lieu of, whatever traditional medicine had to offer. Unfortunately, for pancreatic cancer, there isn't a whole lot that medical science can currently do, thus another reason Jobs turned to anything that gave him hope. And at least in his case the quacks offering him hope weren't going to bankrupt him.

    I hate that we have to legislate instead of educate people about vaccinations. Pretty sad that people listen more to Jenny McCarthy than they do medical doctors. I suppose given that, this legislation is a necessary evil.

    Nimoy was one of the better actors in TOS with one of the best characters, and he seemed like a decent guy too in all the interviews I saw. So sad how they're all dying off. Goodbye another piece of my childhood.

    I agree. I have no doubt racism still exists. I have some relatives in East Texas that have on many occasions shown that to be true, but in this case it seems more likely to be an overreaction to the Boston incident and Newtown.

    Same experience. I'm not sure if it's state wide, but being able to vote at any polling place is fantastic. I have to give major props to the Bernalillo County clerk she's done a hell of a job.

    Worst case scenario, Google gets all the power. Is that better or worse than the phone companies having full control?

    Ideally we'd have good healthy competition, but I'll take Google over AT&T any day.

    I bet, per capita, the number of idiots in your country is the same as in the US. I believe it's a universal constant. The stories about parents forcing their children to take science and math classes and how the kids don't like it is hardly news worthy as the small number of stories of religious idiots taking their kids out of classes that teach evolution.

    * "Principle Investigator" - The person who has to do all the stupid powerpoint presentations for management, do the bean counting to make sure the budget doesn't get over spent, sits in all the management meetings so that other staff can get real work done.

    I do some work as a volunteer officer and the flashlights you get for $10 just don't compare. Most police-style flashlights are built much more ruggedly and are significantly brighter. When you find yourself facing a hostile assailant with nothing but a flashlight in your hand it's nice to know that the flashlight can function as an object for self defense if necessary, not to mention break-and-rake on car and house windows. Also the extra brightness is a safety feature too. Obviously searching a dark area with a brighter light is safer, assuming you need to use a light at all, not to mention being able to temporarily blind someone whose eyes are dark-adjusted.

    Then of course the price is related to the market size. Not many people need a flashlight with these extra capabilities so less market = higher price.
