Yeah I believe you when you say that your little program that runs ALL of the timedeosn't spy on me......NOT! That's the problem with these driver copy protection schemes. In order to work, they have to run at all times....even when your not running the game. That shoul dnot happen. Also, and this may sound out of the orderinary or weird, but if you price your gane reasonably, the pirates won't waste their time. I mean $50??? For a GAME? The same could be saide about playstation games but at least I understand the reson they charge what they do (because they make zip off of the hardware sale..easily solved....charge a reasonable price for the hardware..).
I would not say that Iraq was a complete failure. One thing I would say is that the MEDIA does not show enough of the successes because it isn't really news. We are SUPPOSED to be successful. The failures are more sensational and get better ratings then the success stories. Like how the infrastructure in Iraq is now BETTER then it has ever been under Saddam. Also, how there is a Iraqi Olympic team this year and one member is even a woman! Would that have happened if they were still under Saddam's fist? The Iraq situation is one that is not going to be solved over night mostly because the enemy we are searching may not even be Iraqi, but could be Al Qaida Terrorists. The Iraq war was not about Oil and never was. It was about the defiant Saddam Huessien not coming through on his end of the bargain. The UN even said this and not only did Germany and the US have evidence of WMD's still in Iraq, but UN inspectors even said so. Some will say that that's because they were Americans saying this, but I really doubt that happened. Pluse, while noone has shown proof that Saddam has been allied with Al Qaida, there has been evidence that showed he did not mind them using areas of Iraq as training centers. He also cheered ever Al Qaida success (the USS Cole and 9/11). Saddam was a bad man and his sons were just as bad as he was. Som ewill also point to many years ago and say we created the situation in Iraq and this is true, we don't deny that. So you could also look at this as correcting a mistake as well. Also, in the fog of war, Saddam could have donated his WMD's to Al Qaida. That's the scariest thing in this whole Iraq deal. The WMD's may be found someday, but they may be found after they have blown up downtown NY.
Turkey is a excellent example of how democracy could work for Muslims. The problem with Iraq is as you and others have said...they are not ready and they do no thave a significant number of Iraqi citizens to help protect both the orders of the country as well as the common Iraqi. Just now are we pulling out of some bases we have been at since WWII in Europe. It could be 2050 before things truly settle down and Iraq becomes a true democratic state. I hopt it does not take that long, but we need to support our guys in any case.
DO they think this will win votes for Kerry? If anything, it will just tick people off more that you are doing some hacker attack to push the democratic agenda instead of honestly discussing the issues. There are so many people that say they are voting for Kerry because they hate Bush, but they have yet to come up with a single positive reason to vote for Kerry...except that they hate Bush. Vote FOR something not against someone else. It will get more done.
You know this may be a valid thing. Apple, ATI et al all think that they will get exposure because of my measly screen shots...yeah I believe that.
I know some apps, like Quicktime, think they are making the launch of quicktime movies faster by having the app there when it's really not. If Quicktime and the other 20 applications that want to put themselves in the tray actually were not there, then the movies would run very fast!:D Only usefuly tray apps for me are:
IM Programs (let's me know my status)
The Volume control is till use ful as it's quicker to click there then to go through the start menu to adjust other devices like your microphone.
The VPN icon My mail program in the tray tells me when I have mail and is useful.
That's about it. 90 percent of tray apps can be deactivated easily....right click on most of them and choose the one that makes it go away. If it's not there, then check the preferences menu.

One way we have prevented our Mom and Dad's from installing this stuff it to give them explicit instructions...now mom, everyday, you use this limited account and when you need to install something, either call me or use this Administrator sign on but DO NOT use this signon for anything but installing applications. Do not browse with it. This seemed to cure my little bro in law from having to go help his mom get rid of a virus or spyware. He also has scanners for virus and spyware installed as well and since he has to go pick his son up there every once in a while, he will do a sweep which is short instead of 3-4 hours removing spyware and viruses. Until most users adapt a UNIX like way of using their Windows machines, they will not be able to combat crap like Claria. Buy ticket to Knoxville, TN from Columbus, OH online
On day of flight:
Show up 3 hours ahead of time. Sit and wait an hour because the plane is delayed. Fly a half an hour away and wait another hour for the connection Fly to knoxville in another half an hour.
6 Hours for a PLANE to Knoxville.....it takes about the same amount of time to DRIVE to Knoxville from Columbus....something's WRONG here!
Some will say, well, Columbus and Knoxville are not exactly busy airports, but the same thing would happen when flying from Philadelphia to New York or to Boston. Plane travel should be FASTER not the same speed as driving.
Java is still bloated. Case in point....take simple contact logging program I have on my Mac called jLog. Whenever that program or any Java program for that matter runs on my Mac, the CPU is maxed out the whole time until I quit the Java Application. Now this just may be Apple's implementation sucking, but for a simple app like jLog, it should not spike the CPU like that. I just checked and it appears that that bug has been squished, but it was like that for a long time.
At work, I have a few Java apps that I need to run to do my job. Each of them requires a different JRE. I had to have 3 JRE's installed jsut so I could use all the apps. That's unacceptable. Sun or IBM or someone needs to make a jre that will run them all so to speak.
With all that said, I still think Java is pretty damn cool in what it can do. It's not the run everywhere panacea that SUn made it out to be though. It can run almost everywhere though and that is the cool thing. It IS getting better which is why I think some people say it is coming back although web game players like my brother will say it has not gone anywhere as game desingers have been writing gams in Java all along.
We went to Paramount's King's Island in Cincinnatti and they used a finger print to make sure noone else used our ticket on the second day. While I think there are better ways, you still have to collect something and a fingerprint is better then a urine sample or god forbid blood samples.
There's a voice recorder attachment being sold by Griffin that will do what you want on any iPod. As far as I know, there has never been built in recording in the iPod.

You sir are wrong. Compile a rpm package on Yellow Dog running on a Mac and move it to AIX (yes AIX can install RPM's) and it works...usually. Barring any library issues that is. Same thing with other PPC based machines. Now if you had coded it using X feature off of x chip, in assembler or if your complier had an option to take advantage of enhancements to the processor it's currently running on...then you may not be able to move it. The grandparent of this post is wrong. POWER=PowerPC and PowerPC=POWER...mostly. Of course if you take advantage of some of IBM's work on POWER and move it to a Motorola chip, you will have issues. But if you just compile for a PPC, it should work on either system.
