    I think what he's afraid of is the big business buying the people and expertise, then the people walking out of the door and starting another small business. Without the patents, the big business has effectively purchased a whole lot of nothing.

    I was contemplating moving to Australia to, but with England's nanny cams and this new law it looks like my english language options are pretty much shot.

    It's a classic mistake that people seem to make. It sounds like the "thought" process for the studios is going like "there's only so much money in the world, therefore if companies like MTV are making more of it, then we must be making less of it".

    Well guess what, it turns out that everyone can be happy; that youtube can make money, and because youtube is making money the studios can make even MORE money.
    I think people who try and destroy win win win win win situations are insane.

    Re-read the first line of my post. Your perspective on this changes as you raise a child. All this post has done is further cement the accuracy of that statement.
    This is undeniably true, I'm still trying to figure out how it changes though, being a 17 year old child myself.

    The secondary attack was a local kernel exploit that was first discovered when it was used to attack the debian.org hosts.
    Woah. That must mean that the hackers must have spent a really long time trying to get at Debian. Why would they be so committed to this type of thing?

    Weird, that's something I've never gotten from Opera, but I got immediately with firefox.

    (although a large part is still due to Firefox's memory cache... which people like to refer to as a leak, despite the fact they take no steps to limit the memory cache size using about:config)
    I dunno about that. My issue is that when I use the clear cache button under options privacy after an hour or so of browsing my memory use drops, but it never gets anywhere near where firefox was when it first loaded up even after I've closed all of the tabs and such.

    I think Firefox still has some memory issues to work out. However despite all this it is still the best browser in the world.

    Then I'd hire some of the folks from those companies who work for me. Apparently there is quite a market for sanitized versions of movies. So maybe if they offered a clean version of such and such critically acclaimed R rated movies they might be able to sell more DVDs.

    This kind of reminds me of iTunes where they offer the unedited and clean radio versions of many songs.

    However I'm still curious. How are dwelling costs over there? Where do you live? Do you own? Do you have to pay maintenance of any sort / how much does it cost to upkeep your home?

    Well it is possible to write clean PHP code when your working on tiny projects. Tiny projects are fun, I do them sometimes in my spare time.

    I don't get why people continue to whine about how bad PHP is for large websites. We know that it's a bad choice for that kind of thing, that's because it's not designed with that kind of thing in mind. However due to being easy to set up and deploy PHP is good for small quick fun projects.

    So either your an all work no play kind of guy, or your too damn elitist to ever chose to handle a "second class" language. You should try PHP again sometimes, it can be fun.
