With Yahoo stores, Ebay stores, Amazon shops, most SMB retailers will partner with them for their shopping cart needs. For the rest of us, this book is a good alternative.
But when has vendor lock-in ever enhanced the propogation of a certain technology? Isn't that why Betamax wasn't adopted? Also, Sony's AC3 format comes to mind.
Say hello to HDDVD
Higgins says some software developers use open source as a professional services Trojan horse.
It is crazy, we install this OSS solution and our services appear to be more professional, instantly!
Well, using statistics, those companies do not have to be surveyed to be represented in the overall statistics. How many people watch the Super Bowl? I have never been asked if I did, yet they know. The wonder of Standard Deviations and Representative samples!
I have found that the adoption of Open Source software directly ties into the amount of money that a SMB is likely to make. For example in the UK, adoption is probably among the highest. However, SMB's are wortha bout 25% of their counterparts across the pond. In Austrailia the same holds true, SMB's are typically of higher value. Therefore, adoption of Open Source software is less.
I know that there are exceptions to this rule, and some very wealthy companies use Open Source software, but 80% will follow this rule.
To me, this sounds like a plot to have software companies pay this cooalition to certify their software in order for it to be available to download on Yahoo, pass over AOL's network, and work on Microsoft Windows. Sony would definitely be fined for what they have done.
Intel can join in, and pretty soon, our DRM enabled Windows and Intel systems won't be able to run non-spywawre certified software. Which increases costs for everyone.
Just a thought.
I think that part of learning is creating the connections between synapses (of course) I believe that happens mostly when doing creative thinking. Like using your imagination. Imagination is like working out on a treadmill. When it is time to run, you are well equiped.
Right, I am wondering about the subjective nature of this article. I have found that linux runs great with the scarcest resources.
Tell me where you can run a full PBX and IVR using a P-II 300 mhz? My Gentoo + Asterisk did just fine.
Just my $.02, I am afraid that this is going to turn into another *nix vs. windows argument. I think that every OS has a place on the network. Just the thought that Windows 2003 was installed on a PII-300 makes my shudder. However, Linux is quite happy. (As well as your favorite BSD's)
The description of the service is right in the name:
The *Phantom* game service.
If the most interesting aspect of the service is the lapboard, then woa, it is going to suck.
Again last night I had that strange dream
Where everything was exactly how it seemed
Where concerns about the world getting warmer
The people thought they were just being rewarded
For treating others as they'd like to be treated
For obeying stop signs and curing diseases
For mailing letters with the address of the sender
Now we can swim any day in November
Is very important in high availability environments. I find that a lot of times, due to lack of communication, I will change something on a server, and another admin will come along. "Who the heck did this?" And change it back. So I end up spending a good portion of my day doing things a few times. Now, I would implement change management if it were a high availability system. Instead it is just our dev network.
It was a classy move, however $10k, hardly seems like a lot considering they made almost $72M last year. http://www.calacanis.com/2006/03/06/firefox-mozill a-corporation-mozilla-foundation-made-72m-last/
Wow, you can tell all of that from a single pictuer on slashdot? Awsome.
This is *old* news. I saw this my my google.com/ig about 5 days ago.

It is literally a paper tracking system.
This is a great thing!

I am glad that Ellen was able to make everyone feel good about being next to a Pr0n convention. Personally, at 9:00 am I wish I would have been there.
I know that you are still exploitable, and that would make anyone whine, i mean, Wine.
That is all that I ask

We strike again!
Actually, an intresting view, 3 of the 5 major green house gases (accounting for 97% of the total climate forcing gases) have leveled off or declined since the early 1990's. See for yourself http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Major_greenhous e_gas_trends.png
