The AC comment mentioned tunring everything completely off. There must be some documentation that gives the breakdown of where all the 45W end up. But expecting to turn all the electronics OFF in a present day automobile is not the smartest of ideas.
Wan't to completely turn the battery off? You sure can, but that clicker to open/lock the door won't work, nor would the security alarm. These are the first two things that come to mind. There might be many other essential things that you might have to do without.
" to a mere 1.1 kWh per day, while doing nothing.."
- sorry, I am actually a Tesla fan (or would be, given the chance..) - but 1100w (per day) for doing sweet fuck all, presented as progress?
it's stuff like this that makes me say, thanks, call me when you have the finished article.
1.1kWh is equivalent to having a ~40W light bulb on. If you have a couple of circuits powered on, given it is a fully electric car with all kinds of gizmos built into it, this discharge rate is actually quite nominal.
They could roll out as many new technologies they want, but with Sprint it is hard to actually get the coverage and speeds they promise. Unlimited 4G data plans are meaningless if your phones keeps showing the "No service" symbol whenever you are indoors.
How long before someone hacks into one of these drones to scribble "Happy birthday grandpa" in the sky? Granted that the drones don't have white fumes, but it'd still be pretty cool.
Can it be refueled from empty to full in 2 minutes like a gasoline engine? What is the battery lifespan? How much will they cost to be replaced?
Planning ahead is something thats needed no matter what you drive. No one embarks on a 300 mile roadtrip with the gas gauge blinking red. This one will have the "large LCD display" reminding you to recharge. The battery lifespan is usually in the excess of 100,000 miles, with typical NiMH batteries giving between 130,000-150,000 mile range. At this point, the batteries are expensive, but if you consider the amount of saving in fuel costs, oil changes, all sorts of filters and pumps, etc. over the course of 130k miles - you'd have saved up enough for a battery pack. Another interesting thing is that the cost of fossil based fuels is on the rise, whereas batteries are becoming less expensive over years.
The moral of the story is, if you can afford to spare $50K for starters, you can save quite a bit eventually.
Don't think you will be getting a shout out anytime soon. These cars are for daily commute, and some occasional long distance trips. People hauling heavy cargo over long distances isn't the target demographics.
Dual monitor support isn't really fragmentation. You can switch between single and dual screen, so devices with single screen will not be able to use all the dual-screen features available in Android. Same way having a slide-out qwerty keyboards in Android doesn't mean its fragmented, you just switch from on screen keyboard to a hardware keyboard.
Its a good practice to install the applications on the device's internal memory instead of installing it on a removable memory. The advantage of having portable memory cards is that you can plug the card into different devices if you want to share what's on them. However if you have some device specific applications on them, you won't be able to use those apps if your card is being used in a different device.
But was she a prototype? But I forget, we are on slashdot and usually the only girlfriends for Slashdotters tend to be prototypes with no further developments .
Don't do it unless you know the efficiency of this heat engine. Something tells me that a micro engine (or an array of those micro engines) wouldn't help you much.
If you were to check the flash drives partitioning, you'll see that it has two separate partitions. The section with encryption program is on the primary partition of the flash drive. When the program executes, you get access to the other partition.
Now I've mounted those drives under Linux by bypassing the login process. Instead of mounting sdc1 (assuming sdc is your encrypted flash drive), you mount sdc2. What I've learnt is that the drive isn't encrypted at all - nor password protected. If you can find a way to format the first partition, you pretty much kill the password protection that comes with the flash drive. The "protected" partition just becomes the default partition when the primary one is unavailable.
TrueCrypt or any other data encryption method is the right way to actually secure your data
You don't have to compromise on quantity even if you preserve the quality. Heck, I medium roast the raw beans every weekend, and grind it before brewing - but still I drink about 2 pots/day.

If you are standing that close and are being creepy, NFC hack is less of a concern. Getting kicked in the balls is the bigger concern.

2012 is going to be the year of Windows desktop!

In a few years it will be sitting on a porch in a rocking chair and waving fists and shouting at you to get off its lawn.

How do you make the screen sticky ...Ummm ...nevermind.
Most of the applications you have listed are subsets of no.8 on your list, "A special hard disk just for /tmp".
Plus you would need a proprietary cable to have it transferred from another device.

If you know its gonna be two hours, its not that random.

Apparently Santa can't be tracked in English - perhaps Norad's been taken over by non-English speaking saboteurs.
Selecting a language besides English gives the exact location of Santa.
When I selected Deutsch, here's what I got:
Willkommen beim NORAD-Programm zur Ortung des Weihnachtsmanns
Aktuelle Position Charleston, West Virginia, United States
Der Weihnachtsmann hält als nächstes in: Fredericksburg, Virginia, United States: 01:10

But your system admin survives on that stuff. Would you want a your system admin to go nuts because he didn't get his 3 cups of coffee before lunch?
Does role-playing and fantasy mean nothing to you?
Their cat jumped on the bed.
Show me a SINGLE image sensor that can do 26GP and i'll be impressed!
Come back in 2150 C.E. and somebody can show you one. If you were alive till 2150, the folks showing you that sensor would be impressed too :)
