RedHat is not a tablet OS and they've had Gnome2 for years. Switching to Gnome3 would alienate most users. Unless the Gnome project gets its act together and delivers a usable GUI (one that supports server hardware, i.e. primitive unaccelerated graphics) it will never make it into RHEL.
Where is Debian? I still don't see Mate in the standard repos, let alone as an installation option (or, preferably, the default.) I've been running XFCE4 for a while but, frankly, the longer I use it the more issues I find. Like VNC and NX interoperability, or the infamous xfce4-terminal hang that just caused me to lose some work last night.
Remember that Fedora is the testing grounds for RHEL. Without Mate RHEL would have to go to Gnome3 in the next major release. The user base would not accept the usability issues.
That you're citing "Climategate" displays your ignorance. Several (I can't remember how many) inquests into the whole affair came up with the same conclusion: That the stolen emails did not contain any indications that any science was compromised.
Ah you are math challenged. Now I see. It's not the derivative, it shows the temperature delta from present. And what caused the ice to melt? Pink unicorns? Or was it maybe the temperature? If that's the case, what caused the temperature rise?
However China also does way more than the US to foster renewable energy... simply because they see the writing on the wall and can make rational decisions (i.e. don't have to deal with deniers and a gridlocked political system.)
But of course what they think doesn't matter since it would cost them billions to stop doing what they do. Just like every other fossil fuel corporation out there.
That's what Bill Kibben mentions in his Rolling Stone article. All of that fossil fuel that we can't afford to burn has been factored into share prices, is collateral for big loans, is the backbone of state's long term financial planning... How can you convince them to leave it in the ground? Not going to happen. Collateral: Business as usual will continue until the results are so bad that the industrial civilization is choked to the point that fossil fuel use will be diminished greatly.
It's just evolution at work. Mice in a grain silo.
Exactly.Just look at Anthony Watts, who said - officially - that he'd accept any outcome of the BEST study because he trusts Muller. Now see how Watts is squirming, but of course he won't change his mind. WUWT as the echo chamber for deniers makes way too much money from ad impressions. Those are obviously on gullible people so they must be worth more per click that the average.
Crop yields of soy, wheat and corn drop by about 10% per degree C of warming, and that's without droughts or flooding. Those grasses on steroids were all bred during the last 10,000 years so they are optimized for the climate during that time.
Yes, they will swing out, leaving a huge radial scratch on the platters and damaging the heads' glider surfaces. Pros use "combs" in a fixture to lift the gimbals before moving the actuator. Unless you have a modern drive with ramp load of course.

If RedHat bets on it (and I think they will for RHEL) then it will not just survive.
Citation required. And no, a blog post is not an inquest.
If Romney wants to inject some life into the debate all he has to do is nominate Michelle Bachman.
Given that he probably didn't pay any taxes for 10 years he is extremely competent.

Mate will be the default in one of the next Fedora releases, in preparation for RHEL7.
Mark my words.

Only hotter and with bigger power and water supply issues.
Bah. Everybody knows that Watts is the solitary genius among all the moron "climate scientists."
Who is that Einstein guy, anyway?

No I'm not. As long as it's safe and managed properly.
You need to watch more news.

ROFL.

Depends on how you define "ocean floor". It's in the sediment.
Just look at the graph mentioned above, realize that we'll cross 400 pm CO2 in about three years, that we're on track for over 450 ppm CO2 by mid-century, and see where that will lead in terms of temperature and sea level.

Um, did you notice anything about food prices this year?
I hope you charged them a couple grand. That kind of stupidity needs to be punished.

Unless you have a modern drive with ramp load of course.
Oh yes. That went on until the mid-90s, until automatic retract to a textured landing zone and later ramp loading became common.
