A Wind+Solar+NG filler system is price competitive with Nuclear today, needs little fuel (only when both wind and sun in some area are low), is risk free and has little environmental impact. So why, again, would anybody build new nuclear plants?
I found that Firefox works well with all our ancient corporate Web apps. Sometimes you have to patch the User-Agent header to pretend you're IE6 but everything I ever tried (e.g. ooold proprietary MSIE/VB based crap and old commercial stuff like PeopleSoft) just works. It seems that they have all the right backward compatibility hacks.
I didn't say that guns are a problem or a solution. I only uttered an opinion about people who think they need guns. Civilized countries (like Japan and most other advanced nations) have special organizations for that. They're usually called "cops" or "soldiers."
Pumping water into the ground at high pressure seems to do the trick. It happened in the past and most recently at several fracking sites. Of course you could also trigger the big one this way.
Now imagine some in Japan armed to the teeth like certain people in the US. Now wouldn't that be fun. People who think that guns are the solution are the problem. They are primitive and myopic.
Have you ever heard of control electronics and that you can turn off power generation in seconds by feathering the blades? Otherwise your wind turbine or generator would disintegrate during the first storm.
How hot does the core have to become for hydrogen to be generated? Does anybody know? My recollection is that you need white-hot temperatures. That would indicate that some regions of the core are out of the water.

How do you know he doesn't comment on coding issues here?
Because in 6 months people would remember the forecast while in 4 years nobody will give a shit.
All scientists are followers of the Church of the FSM? Interesting.
Don't forget the subsidized gas.
Which, BTW, will be so expensive soon that 'burbs are doomed anyway.
Go read some James Howard Kunstler.
Something did melt because TEPCO measured neutron radiation which indicates a small amount of fission.
What and how much is anybody's guess.
Same here. I still need Outlook for the corp stuff. The only Windows program I ever run now that Webex runs cleanly on Linux.
Mmm, radioactive volcanoes!
I know. Just wishful thinking.
Obviously they should sue Google for $1 quadrillion next given what is available on YouTube and how much is downloaded.

That sounds great! Where can I download the Linux version?

Me too. Are there any alternatives, like some of the small carriers?

Oh, have WA and OR already joined Canada? I must have missed that somehow.
You have a disaster every day. It's called weather.
Your neighbor might have an assault rifle. You lose.

I'll go back to the cheapo 1.5 Mb/s plan since AT&T won't let me use the bandwidth anyway.
150GB/month is less than 60 kB/s. Almost anything you run around the clock will exceed the cap.
Time for a third party.
The main difference is that corruption today is accepted political practice, called PAC or "campaign financing."
