    Ha! Our software now uses repository revision numbers, currently around 11200. Too bad the numbering restarted when we converted from cvs to svn.

    A supplier recently dared sending a spreadsheet in .xlsx format. I think he learned his lesson from the barrage of replies asking "WTF?" :)

    Amen. Anybody who throws all carbs into the same bin doesn't know what they're talking about.
    Simple carbs (sugars, white starches):bad. Complex carbs (fruits, vegetables minus potatoes and corn, whole grains):good.
    Same thing with meats. Red meats:bad (too much fat) unless they're the highest quality lean cuts. Poultry and fish:good. Processed meats:really bad.
    Same thing with fats. Trans fats:seriously bad. Saturated fats:OK in moderate amounts. Unsaturated fats:good.

    Bottom line, people who argue that they can't lose weight eat the wrong foods. Simple as that. The traditional American meat-and-potato diet plus industrial junk food is a killer for anyone. Even when I ran competitively I couldn't have eaten that stuff. And now that I'm injured it's still easy to maintain my weight with a healthy (whole grain, dairy, vegetable and fish based) diet.

    But which of the lossless codecs will support my Denon Ethernet cable? I can't just let any old codec provide a jittery bitstream that's worse than a cheap Ethernet cable would produce.

    You make you digestive system "inefficient" by eating high fiber foods.
    If you eat low fiber, the low volume of the pulp means that it stays in the digestive tract longer and the intestines have lots of time to suck every last calorie out of it.

    You can be pretty sure that our sense of attractiveness is very keen on detecting evolutionary fitness. But once we're past our reproductive years it is probably off like much else that's evolution driven.

    This is just like going from DOS with one or two TSRs to Windows 3.1.
    That was a big hit; they probably want to repeat that success story.

    I'm writing this on a 4 year old Pentium M, 1.5 GHz, 1.5 GB, 80 GB disk.
    No reason to upgrade.

    I liked it but went back to TextPad a couple of months ago after Notepad++ crashed on me twice.
    TextPad hangs sometimes before exiting but it has never crashed on me in several years.

    Add a file server with a really fast disk subsystem, a fast multicore build system, and a couple of separate targets.
    Although I have to admit that I sometimes relapse to TextPad on Windows for editing.
