It seems as though many people here don't know the difference between products. They say "VMWARE" when they mean "VMWARE Workstation." OK People, here's the breakdown.
VMWARE Virtual Infrastructure 3 (formally ESX) No real compitition
VMWARE Virtual Server (formally GSX) XEN Microsoft Virtual Server
Yes, and no. I like the fact that those ant. are angled sideways.. I'm sure even if it gets outside the box, your not going to get much of a signal with it sideways
This is true. The VM has to wait until both those CPUs are free before it can run it's process. My shop installs ESX at some of our clients, and we never set a VM with 2 virtual CPUs.
From reading TFA, it looks like he had the majority of problems because of his laptops. Hard drive dying, replace batt. Perhaps he should invest in new testing equipment. I thought the article was going to be about vista beta 2, not, why I couldn't get windows installed on my hardware.
Yes, vista is supposed to support a ton of hardware, but I feel the article's title was misleading.
Yes, I like linux and windows... No, I am not looking foward to Vista. 2000 and XP (and a wide range of linux) is fine for most workstations in the corp world.
I wonder what type of turnout it will be when the UHF/VHF Bands go to auction. Even though the transition to all digital was to be completed this year. Completing the Transition to Digital Television... It doesn't look like that's going to happen anytime soon. We need to get away from 2.4ghz - way to crowded. Local ISPs are running freq. hoping on the full band, with illegal boosting ( >1watt) and claim otherwise when we complain about too much noise on a particular channel. Give me more freq!
We all learned this in our younger schooling... if your house is on fire, get out, and call from a another house's phone. Now, if it's vonage at the other house, then there's a problem....
While nowhere close to silent, it still is very quite. The Kingwin Aquastar AS-3000(http://www.kingwin.com/pdut_detail.asp?Lin eID=&CateID=53&ID=249) is installed in my PC. P4 Northwood 3ghz, 2GB DDR400, and Nvidia 6600GT. The AS-3000 comes with water block for both CPU and GPU.. ANY cpu and gpu. DB sensor, and LCD on the front. Took my idle temp from 105f to 90f. and under load from 130f to 105f. Not a performance Water cooler, but for $100 us, a great addition in my opinion. External, or mounts internal in 2 - 5 1/4 bays. This unit has 2 fans inside moving air across radiator. not fanless, but quite.
Yea.. Dry skidding is still quite different. Thanks for bringing that up. Driving my wife's 03 Cavilier is a bit different with it's traction control on slick conditions. I personally prefer a car with ABS, but nothing else.
I've had 4 different cars on my life, want to know the easiest way to learn how they react? Snow covered parking lots! Go with a trusted friend in the passenger seat, drive around at 10 mph or so, left right turing, and ask them to pull the e-brake at times, and release to force a skid that you weren't expecting. It doesn't take long to learn how your car reacts. Do it alone even. I've just found that it's the easiest, and SAFEST way to learn what your vehicle will do with lose of traction.
I agree also, gotta have those spare parts - but there is a limit. I work for a small (8 Techs) firm, and we have a customer who refuses to upgrade his 3 servers. 3 Compaq 800's, all 9.1 drives, and *gasp* Proxy 2.0 !!! Hubs.... You get the idea. We have tried everything, short of refusal of work. At what point do you stop trying to keep parts in stock for the customer's that won't (and don't want to) progress?

It's 10pm EST... shouldn't you be in bed by now?

I agree - You need to know the car you drive.
