Since this position is pretty much new territory for the government, and since there will likely only be a single position created, it will probably end up being a hybrid CIO/CTO position anyways. As for who it should be, the Rossotti suggestion seems fairly reasonable. My father has worked for AMS for the past 20+ years on a number of government contracts. The one thing he always comes back saying is how screwed up and redundant a lot of the setups are--it's layer upon layer of hackjobs just to get the various systems to talk to one another. Rossotti is well aware of the current state of technology affairs within the government. I'm sure there are plenty others like him, but he is definitely someone who would be in a position to help clean up some of the mess that's there.
I've had 2500 Wii points sitting unspent waiting for the Final Fantasy and Dragon Warrior titles from the NES and SNES.
And you'll continue waiting because they're making a ton more money by reissuing/reworking them (well, FF at least) for the GBA and DS. And they've done a great job of it. If you want to play them, that's the way to do it. And a nice thing is that you can then leave the TV on and listen to it while you play the game.
If you are have to justifying IT, I thinking it is firstly important to be answering the question "What is IT?" Only then can you be clarifying the answering of the questionifying of the justification.
At least the scanning engines that can detect the presence of malware with the obfuscation aren't trying to claim each differential as a new variant.
Don't give the guys in marketing any ideas. "New and Improved! FoobarAV now detects an infinite number of viruses! Compare that with Norton's piddly 30,000."
Cool. Thanks very much for the info. I'll bookmark that thread. I started looking around there a little a few weeks ago, but there's a whole lotta crap to sift through. I didn't see that thread before.
From my understanding, RB2 for Wii will be a whole other world. Apparently they're doing a proper port of RB2 to the Wii, and you'll be able to get DLC for it. This puts it more or less on par with the 360/PS3 versions. Of course, it's not out yet, so we'll see how it actually all comes together. But if you already have a Wii and want one of the games, it seems like it might be worthwhile to hold off to see how RB2 Wii is.
That's what a rimshot is.
It is and it's not. What you're describing is actually two snare hits, followed by a bass/crash hit. For some reason, it's called a rimshot in comedic circles. In drumming, a proper rimshot is when you hit the snare head and rim with the stick at the same time (called a ping if you do it closer to the edge). It produces a sharp, slightly metallic sound.
Just wondering. Have you tried other pads (sounds like you might have a Roland kit) with the ION controller brain? On the surface, it seems like it should work, but I'd like confirmation before I start plunking down money. From ION's site, it sounds like they might make the controller brain available separately at some point. I used to play drums and would like to get back into it. I'd much rather get a real electronic kit and spend an extra 75 or 100 bucks or so on the ION brain instead of buying the whole set.
Dead end
You are at a dead end of a dirt road. The road goes to the east.
In the distance you can see that it will eventually fork off. The
trees here are very tall royal palms, and they are spaced equidistant
from each other.
There is a shovel here.

I finally got around to picking up Rock Band for my PS3 about a month ago (there's some pretty nice deals on the Sams Club website--30 for the guitar, 35 for the game). I used to play drums a long time ago, and I play guitar now. No, the game isn't quite the same as playing the real thing (well, the drums are in the ball park), but it definitely does get you used to some of the general motions you'll need to go through if playing the real instrument. It certainly does get you used to playing power chords, though. : p Also, I've found that whacking away at the strum bar with a pick helps quite a bit. But that might just be me.
Can someone please explain to me why this is tagged as 'hardhack'? I wouldn't exactly consider the open-sourcing of some drivers to be the same as physically hacking a piece of hardware.
I just tried using this in Word. Instead of finishing the word I was typing, it kept on moving the little "insertion line" thing to the right. I already filed a bug report, but do any of you have a quick fix?
5. Make as much money as possible, consistency be damned.
Though this is currently modded "Funny", it's actually very true. Above all else, Murdoch is a capitalist. If there's money to be made by pandering to a group, he'll do it.
I agree. His first order of business once sworn in should be relocating the center of government to Tulsa. That'll show em!

My, that's an ugly looking laptop. Here's hoping Toshiba (or someone else) makes something similar in a nicer looking body.
1) Rimshot (aka, gawk or ping depending on where played)
2) Rim click
3) Stick shot
4) That's just hitting/playing on the rim.
Yes, I had far too many years of marching and orchestral percussion. : )
from the all-about-roi dept.
It's always about the king, isn't it....

Well, if you're using Windows XP, the best trick is Win-U-U.
Derrrr. Helps to RTFS.

I got a blood blister after some extended playing.
Welcome to playing drums. And yes, I seriously mean that. You get blisters from playing.

You're assuming they managed to get into Insert mode first. : p (that's a smiley, not a command)

That's why I make sure I rarely have physical access to my phone. It keeps me safe.
I'm guessing it probably had more to do with the mention of Ayn Rand than Ron Paul. At least, that's the part that I find more intriguing.
Oh, there was an election?
Yep. Went to the polling place first thing this morning. No lines. I just have to laugh at all the suckers who waited for hours yesterday...
