Try having another religion other then christianity then, thats basicly what i was talking about.

And the cartoon riots were incited by a handful of clerics, and the effects were varying.

But im not going to define people based on what we except of either liberal or conservative Muslims.

There are some link of conciousness among eastern muslims whenever they perceive "the west" as instigating them.

Not saying thats something written in stone, just that there might be some super fiscal, percived antagonism from westerners, just like alot of people here in Europe are going on about "Eurabia" and are just as guilty on willingly painting a picture of antagonistic muslims.

    People are just people.

  9. Re:religion-is-wonderful on Extremists Warn South Park Creators Over Muhammad In a Bear Suit · · Score: -1

If thats the case why were the Muslim countries ten times more liberal then its western counterpart 1000 years ago?

Infact Islam has been a very dynamic religion, to say that "Its not old enough" is an extreme simplification of the historical and social factors. The fact that there are thousands of different law school should be an indication of that.

Wahabism itself were the Idea that "we get closer to god if we follow earlier teaching", but in reality what they did was akin to trying to live like a Stone Age society by driving cars with their feet and have a Dinosaur as a pet, bromides is a bitch.

It were also formed by nationalism when they tried to liberate Saudi Arabia from the other Muslims like the Ottoman, what better a war offcourse isnt very good without some juciy jingoism so calling themself "true muslims" is a good enough battle cry.

Much the current headline stuff generally revolve around Wahabism and other stuff from the socalled "Muslim revival" And thats something that happened in the 70's.
Because in the 70's we had the Oil crisis, which led to shitload of money to the Saudi Arabian country to spend on missonary work
Its much easier to convert someone to their version of the same faith then it is to try to convert someone to entirely different religion, especially if you got shitloads of money to spread, which is a reason why Wahabism movement tripled in the seventies.

Using simple abstract thinking on demographics is folly, history is fluid and complex.

"I don't see why it's so hard to grasp the iPhone is not, and was never intended to be, a general-purpose computing device."
Then what in the nine hells is the point of apple store.
Any computer handheld or otherwise lives and dies on its application, having a richer market for applications will serve the non-geek endusers.
And the apple politbureau is keeping that market from reaching it full potential, we are not talking about kernel modification or system upgrades.
If they just liberalized the process It still would be easy to quality check the programs it just setup a testing software repository for the geeks on the firering line and a conservative stable one for the non-geeks.
The non-geek enduser don't need to be bothered with any details except for a neat package manager that may or may not hold the next visicalc, or a babyshaker app whatever suits your needs.
