Anyone know the power factor on these? I know some CFLs have crappy power factors -- a "don't care" if you're buying your power but potentially a big deal if you're making your own power!
I guess we are talking about zoom resize, not actual image resize. When you zoom in and out of the image, there is a rescale going on in memory. This rescale should take gamma into account, because is only for visual purposes.
Using one of his test images I saw the bug manifest in both zoom and scale resize (in Gimp)....
Is this another slashvertisement to get the story out there and advertise the book again? I already listened to the Science Friday segment a month ago.
From the linked article:

How hard is it to understand "That little dot underneath the icon means the program is running, even if it's not showing anything on the screen. If you have too much stuff running, it will take up resources and slow down the computer."
Harder than you'd think, apparently. I've met long-time (& otherwise competent) Windows users who do not grok this even after being told again, and again, and again....
Programming a VIC-20 in BASIC...and removing all the spaces to save a few bytes.
Started on a VIC-20, changed to Apple ][+ in school, got berated by my teacher for not using whitespace when I was typing. He said he could always spot Commodore users....
Now what, exactly, does that have to do with my post or the one I responded to?
You said:
>If everyone is receiving analog cable using analog TVs... exactly how is this a problem?
I pointed out to you that not everyone is receiving analog cable.
That help?
Don't know if it's buried in the fine print somewhere else on the website, but after you request one, you're told that it will be mailed and that it's valid for 90 days from the date of issuance....
The pay as you go phones are for people who are either A) poor (obviously because they can't manage finances since they bought this) or B) buy into the whole "it's cheaper cuz you pay for the minutes up front".
Or: C) like me, don't use a cell phone enough to make a plan worthwhile. $15/month for 60 minutes $30ish(+) for more minutes than I'll ever use....
Or, increasing the amount of power you get out of a certain engine size.
I'm guessing this'll be the way things go, given recent history. No fuel saving but "woo-hoo! I got a gazillion horsepower!"
So, your 11-year-old child would only be five because she didn't have any siblings until six years ago? Good luck with that.
No, see, that's how it works with computer software; the date we're interested in isn't the date of introduction but the date of supersession..
IE 5 for Mac had no successor -- does that make it brand new still?

That would have been pretty funny if you hadn't got it backwards.
Sigh. Not a Spinal Tap fan, eh? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NeGteg74mjw , about 6 mins in....
The drawing on the napkin clearly said inches, not feet.
geez, do folks not recognize a joke anymore?
The prices can seemingly look high, but remember that these products are used for tax writeoffs.
Best Buy are punters. Here's a REAL cable:

"point at the sun 24/7." I'd like to see that!
I saw recently that the HMS Invincible was up for auction. Does Eric need an aircraft carrier?
Nor do I. Cubicles are terrible. Give me an office with a door!

Good for Mickey, but this idea isn't new. Isao Tomita (sort of) did the same thing in 1984 on "Dawn Chorus": http://www.isaotomita.net/recordings/dawn.html
Interestingly enough, though, it's also showing up on today's Spendid Table: http://splendidtable.publicradio.org/

No, they're clearly labeled "I cannot be played on Record Player X." Or at least that's what Achilles told me....
Cue the other purists saying "78s were pressed on lacquer, not vinyl."

Simple -- not everyone can or chooses to subscribe to cable. I can, but choose not to -- it's not worth the money to me.

Why they don't make lug nuts with tapers on both sides I will never know,
My 1951 MG TD's lugnuts are tapered on both sides.
D@mn /. gobbled my "lessthan." Sigh. $15/month for 60 minutes is less than $30ish(+) for more minutes than I'll ever use....

That argument assumes jammers would be used responsibly. If cell phones aren't being used responsibly, what are the odds that jammers would be?
