I can't believe people still think of corporations as self sustaining entities with no humans behind them.

Corporations (of this size) are ran by PEOPLE. They have officers, a board of directors, etc. The entity may exist separate from the people in terms of tax laws, etc, but the entity is not sentient; it doesn't make decisions, PEOPLE do. Therefore, the entities do NOT operate above parent's stated simple rules.

Just to be clear: Corporations can not think. They do not care if they make a profit. They have no intelligence. You are correct that they don't have sentiments, morals, or regrets, but it is irrelevant because they cannot make decisions anyway. Corporations cannot do horrible things to make a buck; the people running the corporation.

Think Enron and Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia. Did the company get sent to prison? No, but the person who made the decisions did.

Pussies may think they can deal with assholes their way. But the only thing that can fuck an asshole is a dick, with some balls. The problem with dicks is: they fuck too much or fuck when it isn't appropriate - and it takes a pussy to show them that. But sometimes, pussies can be so full of shit that they become assholes themselves... because pussies are an inch and half away from ass holes. I don't know much about this crazy, crazy world, but I do know this: If you don't let us fuck this asshole, we're going to have our dicks and pussies all covered in shit!

Not that I'm American, but when and how DO you get to your dream job?

In high school I wanted to be a programmer, but F'ed off too much and couldn't get a scholarship. When I went to the community college, they didn't have a programming degree. It was either a general IT degree or a Network Admin and Support degree, so I was like F it and took the latter. Turns out I really enjoyed it. Nt4, cushion chair administration and all that, and routing and switching. So I delivered pizza's for 3 years to a 2 year degree, and also got my A+ and MCP

After that my cousin, who works the drive through line at the bank, was talking to a customer who ran a mom and pop computer shop, and they were looking for help. So he told them about me, I got the interview, and got hired. Like $7.50 an hour or something, back in 2001/2002 I think. So I did that for 2 years, and then moved to another state because thats where the girl I liked lived. I worked through a temp agency doind shite jobs until a job opened up for a "helpdesk", where the full time employee was out on medical leave. They temped me for $11 an hour, and then 3 or 4 weeks later bumped it to $13 when they saw what I could do. Turns out the full time employee wasn't going to be coming back, so they hired me full time. A year or 2 later they made me salaried at $35,000 a year and promoted me from "helpdesk coordinator" to "network technician" (more like jr. systems admin, except the sys admin didn't like that title). After a total of ~4 years working there, I was making $41,000 +bonuses, and had aquired my Network+, MCDST, and MCSA, but no room for growth until the current system admin stepped out of the way.

At this point I started applying for jobs in the MD area, and after about 3 months and 3 interviews, I was offered a Systems Admin job for $45,000 which I took. I've been here 4 months and they just raised me to $47,000.

So it took me almost 10 years to get here, including college, but I'm pretty close to my dream job. Sure, I'd like to make more money, but that will come down the road when I can put a few years exp as a system admin on my resume. A 27 year old bringing home $600 a week after taxes, insurance, etc, all for what feels like dicking around on computers all day? Yes sir.

*sigh* I don't even feel like blowing this all up. But here goes.

I don't know where you live

Hagerstown, MD to Frederick, MD. Small mountain range in between. I70.

but I've never, ever seen a 30mph difference between 2 consecutive lanes in heavy traffic. Maybe the difference between the far left and far right lanes is a lot, but not 2 consecutive lanes.

Except in this case, most of the stretch only has 2 lanes, so the far left and the far right ARE consecutive. And when tractor trailers and grandmas are in the right lane going 55 (sometimes 65), and traffic in the left lane is going 80/85 (sometimes higher), then simple math dictates there can be a 30mph difference in speed. Except the speed isn't constant, because everytime someone stuck in the right lane tries to get in the left lane, both lanes end up slamming on their brakes. And since it can be heavy traffic (not quite bumper to bumper, but heavy still) as far as you can see, you know that if you move over, then your going to be the next guy who either gets stuck in the right lane, or dangerously causes 40 cars to hit the brakes.

There's no danger for you to slow down to match the speed of the lane next to you (with your blinker on), get over, and let everyone pass.

In order to let "everyone" pass, you would be in the right lane all day, because there will always be another car behind you on the way to DC thats moving faster than you want to. And no, it isn't dangerous to slow down and move to the right. The danger is in trying to move back to the left with such a drastic speed difference. Coming from someone who has been ran off the road at over 60 mph and had to have half their ear stitched back on, you can eat my ass if you think it isn't.

    There's no danger there

    Again, BS.

It's all about you, it's not about safety.

Right AND Wrong. It's all about me BECAUSE it's all about safety.

It's also dangerous to be a moving obstacle in high-speed heavy traffic, but you don't seem worried about being that.

Then quite trying to drive 20 mph over the speed limit, which by definition is reckless driving, and the heavy traffic won't be so high speed, and the danger diminishes. But no. It much more important to try to shave 3 minutes off your 30 mile commute (7 minutes if you are going the 70 miles to DC) than it is to have just a little more patience.
