But since you brought it up, I'd like to say that YES, it is much better. Why? Because we have a strong community that cares about the direction the product goes, not just PUSH IT ON EVERYONE.
P.S. - I'm not a fanboy. I'm just happy I don't have to go down the MS road anymore. Apple/Mac can kiss my ass, as well.
I don't care how many more enhancements they make to Vista, I still won't use it.
I moved to Linux a few years ago and via Vmware I had XP installed so I could still use Photoshop/Illustrator. But since then I have found Inkscape and Xara to be great replacements.
Non-technically inclined people don't care about that. All they need to know is that it will make their lives difficult. They know what copy protection is. By saying DRM is basically another form of copy protection suddenly the gears start to turn in their heads.
When I tried to explain DRM to my girlfriend I used the iPod and iTMS as an example. All she could say back was "But iPods are so pretty!"
She doesn't care about DRM or fancy acronyms (such as CSS). By introducing something they understand (eg: copy protection/restriction) is a good starting point to get them to understand what exactly DRM is.
This is quite offtopic. But, I have to agree. When I am looking at products, Samsung is always there and they are generally very good.
Such as this monitor I am using right now. It's the Samsung Syncmaster 940BW. I've had no problems with it... other than my video card is too old and can't push 1440x900.:-P
The only thing DRM governs is limiting the choices of playback hardware/software (only licensed dvd-players, etc).
So, in other words, copy protection. Protection for the firm that put out the media to make it incredibly hard for you to share or distribute the media.
So, in short, it is a form of copy protection.
I agree that Copy Restriction works... but people understand what Copy Protection is.:-P
My mistake.
I read Lunenburg and immediately though of Lunenburg in Canada. Being Canadian, I'm not exactly in sync with all of the cities in the US of A.:-P
This is my number 1 priority for an MP3 player actually. No one could ever work out why the hell I used carry around a god-aweful looking Rio Karma, while they used their trendy ipods.
If you are in the market for a new MP3 player, take a nice long look at the iAUDIO X5.
Supports most audio formats[MP3, WMA/ASF, OGG, FLAC & WAV], and looks relatively similar to the iPod. Oh, as a plus, it is black. The only downside I found with it is the screen. It's not very big compared to the iPod.
Seriously though, those photos are terrible quality.
Although I do like the idea of a relatively large screen, I feel it is a total knock-off of the iPod. Not that I like the iPod or anything, as I am a proud owner of the amazing iAUDIO X5 -- a little bulky, but plays everything[OGG, FLAC, etc.], and mounts as a USB Mass Storage Device on any OS, and not a DRM-infested steaming heap of s**t.
I remember when I jumped into Linux just about 2 and a half years ago...
I can honestly say I rarely had problems, and what problems I did have I could eventually figure out what I could do to fix it or get around it.
After reading what he had written, he is a dolt. I actually feel stupider after reading it. And, as a web developer, I feel he should never enter the market with a page such as his.
Wow, you are a very persistent troll, and for that I contratulate you.
However, it is very on topic. I was posting saying that end users don't care about Vista.
You can go away now.
I didn't say anything about it being better.
But since you brought it up, I'd like to say that YES, it is much better. Why? Because we have a strong community that cares about the direction the product goes, not just PUSH IT ON EVERYONE.

Good luck with that Vista monstrosity, though.
I know very well what DRM and CSS, etc. are.

"Copy protection"
:-)
Seriously. I've tried explaining the matter to my friends and girlfriend. Those two words saved my life.
So basically it is introducing features similar to CVS/SVN?
:-P
Wasted Text... that's all I needed to know.
As a web developer I'd like to say that it would take more effort to restrict browsers/operating systems than to accomodate for them.
Seems as though they have their priorities a little backwards.
Stupid f**king people these days.
... of your ISP expanding over to North America? -- especially in Saskatchewan, Canada. Our current offerings are very limited.
Pretty please?
I cannot agree anymore.
I store my audio as so:
~/media/audio/%artist/%album_year - %album_name/%track_number - %song_title.%file_extension
... but I still want my goddamn flying car!
My mistake. :-P

This is completely off topic, but I feel it is worth mentioning that the teen is from Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, Canada.
:-)
I was in Lunenburg a few months ago. It is an absolutely gorgeous city[/town?]
Quite possibly.
But apparently he is a tongue.
How this made it through the lameness filter, I have no idea.

... is: Go Linux / F/OSS / Open Standards!
;-)
Hack-O-Matic seems more 133t. Instead of Silica...
:-)
But does it run on Linux?
I know I will get modded down, but seriously... any intentions for a port to Linux?
