In an ideal world, it shouldn't matter. His job is to serve the interest of the population, not secure his own re-election. He should throw himself on his sword if need be to stop this insanity. But of course he won't; because that would be a change you could believe in.
I imagine all the thousands of shop owners operating in shopping centres across the uk will attend their annual "don't tell anyone we're tracking them" secret underground rally, where possible leaks will be identified and silenced...permanently.
congratulations on falling for a troll that couldn't be more obvious it painted itself purple and danced naked on top of a harpsichord singing "obvious trolls are here again"
There are a whole host of unexplained phenomena related to the sun's activities that still baffle gas model theorists to this day because they fail to recognize the existence of an iron alloy transitional layer that rests beneath the visible photosphere.
Anonymous isn't one roving mob of thugs. It's just a self-applied label any random mob of thugs can give itself on an ad-hoc basis to attempt to convey some sense of menace. Which is why expecting any of these completely unrelated groups of people to follow some predetermined M.O. is naive at best.
You can hone something, and you can home in on something. You can't really "hone in on" something, although you can kind of parse what it supposed to mean, doesn't scan very well at all, and is obviously a corruption of "home in on".
What makes you think that what we learn from the LHC won't have an application in batteries and cancer treatment? If it weren't for seemingly pointless study of quantum mechanics, none of us would have computers or electronics, and batteries and cancer treatments would be feeble in comparison to what we have now. Understanding fundamental physics underpins absolutely everything we do. I would say that it's impossible for the LHC to be a waste of money, and further that anything else you chose to spend that $9billion on would return a pittance in comparison to the rewards we'll reap from what we're certain to learn with this thing, Higgs boson or none.
A handful of people noisily whinging on internet forums are not usually representative of the general population. People don't usually feel the urge to rant about how content or satisfied they are.

Crank alert.

I think he might also be a closet scientologist, looking at this...
will this machine be too early to just stream games rather than having discs?
Yes really.

please just say fuck
What makes you think that my intensive study of my navel lint won't have applications in batteries and cancer treatment?
What aspect of your naval lint are you studying and could you give me a budget breakdown?
Maybe it'll tick off a box on the Standard Model that we can hang on our wall and gaze at proudly.
Just like all those other useless aspects of the standard model that we never really needed to know.

can you back that claim up with a citation?
the sharpened flint of programming tools
What an informative and well substantiated assertion.
