How many programmers know the deep details about the electronics that make up the processor? [...] I have dual degrees in Physics and CS, yet I would not include myself in that category.
All people who include themselves in that category just don't understand what amount of knowledge is necessary to make even simple devices functional nowadays (that doesn't only apply to electronics or software).
I guess there is only a handful of people who are born with the humbleness to respect the value the research of other peoples, most of them (including me) have to learn a lot to finally understand that it is impossible to know and understand everything about one particular subject.
But hey, young people are constantly changing the world with new ideas just because they refuse to see the difficulties with the implementation!
That's definitely not true, we can observe lots of galaxies who appear - according to their red shift - to travel faster than light.
Wich, of course, doesn't mean that such galaxy is moving faster than light, not even that it moves at all.
That's because the red shift is not because of the galaxies moving away but because of the expansion of space. I'm not an astronomer, but it's something like this: A photon traveling to us increases it's wavelength because of the expanding universe ALL THE WAY to us. So the redshift increases by the distance, and not by the relative speed of the galaxy. (The latter is called Doppler effect)
Although I love object pascal, I have been forced to switch to other languages. They build great ide's but delphi 6 was the last really stable and perfoming version. My guess is that borland never recovered the loss of some key developers to Microsoft. (Anders Hejlsberg for example). The.net framework classes are just an improved version of the VCL. Every delphi developper immediately sees the similarities between system.windows.forms and Delphi's VCL.
And even worse: They discontinued kylix, so object pascal currently only runs on windows.
And Visual Studio.Net (along with 3rd party plugins like resharper) has pretty much anything you need for smaller projects (if it has to be windows), so there is no obvious reason to buy an ide from borland. (i count together as a modeling tool )
So they allocate the budget for the new super ultra-modern computer system (which of course exceeds that budget), and now they need even more money because they "didn't knew" about the energy problem.
And next year? They get at least the same budget.
So whoever is responsible for that mess is even proud of what he's done.
Well, they keep thinking that 100 developpers can do the same job as a handful of good developpers. That's wrong most of the time, as in "9 women can have one baby in one month".
It can't be that the only article touching such a subject says "gee, now they'll think about outsourcing again".
dhruvx is right, it can happen anywhere, and when it happens the effect on outsourcing is the smallest problem to care about!
I have two and I won't sell them for 10.000USD:)
BTW: Their website is still up: http://www.fingerworks.com/
Rumors say they have been bought by apple and the fingerworks team developped the two finger scrolling on apple trackpads. See there:

if you want to preserve your virility and still use a macbook pro on your lap, use iLap.
Sinve I got it, there is no more reason for me to stand up from the couch and sit in front of a desktop computer;-)

my anus never should be included.
Last time I checked they were about to sell their ide business.

This is so sad, but true
I for one welcome ... Nevermind...

How come that there is always a 404 right after a story was submitted?
